Right, I'm still debating some details on DS's first trip to Disneyland. I'm aiming for a winter trip, but was originally planning on travelling out the day after his birthday (which would be 9th January)

However, I've read that the christmas celebrations, etc, finish on the 8th (his Birthday) so I'm now stuck... Does anyone know what else finishes on the 8th, aside from the decorations. Are the fireworks only on during the Christmas break? He saw a video of the fireworks earlier, and still REALLY wants to see them...

What would you do? Go after Christmas, but before his birthday, when it would cost more, but you get more atmosphere (Could claim it's a Christmas Present). Or after his birthday, leaving it as a birthday suprise? Heeeelllllllllllllllllp! (Please...) :goodvibes

there are no fireworks at DLP at all over the Christmas season, only on one night, New Years Eve.

Is it the 8th January 2012 the Christmas season finishes at DLP this year? That seems later than usual, but I see from DLRPMagic that thats the right date. Up to and including the 8th, you'll have the tree-lighting and castle-lighting ceremonies, Santa and Santa Goofy will be available for Meet n Greets, and the OUAD parade will have the Christmas section added to it. From 9th, that stops and the parks are back to their normal theme.

I absolutely love DLP in Christmas season. Would your 3-year old be confused with it still being "Christmas" so long after you've celebrated Christmas Day at home?

Says the 8th in the brochure, and with that being DS's birthday, kinda commited it to memory. That's a shame about the lack of fireworks :( But hopefully, the castle lighting ceremony will more than keep him entertained. I'm hoping he'd be ok with the whole "It's still christmas" thing... we usually keep the decorations up til the 9th in our house anyway, so hopefully he'll just see it as they've still got the decorations up.

Really random question, but Sandy Claws aside, do any of the other The Nightmare Before Christmas characters make an appearance over Christmas?

no I'm afraid they don't, the only characters from Nightmare Before Christmas you see at DLP are Jack and Sally, and they are usually special additions for Halloween season only.

We'll have to start planning for a Halloween trip one year, then... ;) I'm waiting for the Halloween stock to return to our local store, as DS had a cuddly Sally last year, which he managed to leave on the bus. I think he'd only have been more heartbroken if he lost Jessie :confused3 Kids, eh?
