Need help deciding between AKL and Poly! Help!

We are getting married New Years Day at the WL. Our reservations right now are for the AKL. But reading other people's trip reports and reviews I'm starting to think we should change our reservations to the Poly. It seems very romantic and in the center of everything. I need some advice! Stay at AKL or switch to the Poly? Help!

Both are wonderful resorts and you need to consider your personal preferences. Personally, I would chose the Poly if it is within your budget. I think it is more romantic. Imagine sitting on the beach in a hammock together watching the fireworks. The location also can't be beat! Check out Tikiman's wonderful site and I'm sure it will convince you. We split our honeymoon between WL and AKL...I enjoyed AKL MUCH better.

AKL just seems really cozy to me...you're kinda far away from everything (no big deal for us - no kids to haul around yet) and you don't even feel like you're on Disney property....you reall feel you're off in some exotic African local.

The resort is a little 'darker'...leading it to be a bit more romantic in my eyes. I loved sitting on our balcony at night, watching animals with a glass of wine and my DH. You can even have dinner brought to your balcony so you can dine facing the savannah (that is - if you have a savannah view)

If you really feel like splurging - the concierge cast up there is amazing...they were beyond friendly and extremely helpful.

I think you have to determine if you are more 'beach' or 'animal' people really...both resorts have different personalities...I would (and have) stay at AKL again in a heartbeat.

Oh - if you do stay at the Poly - at least make a PS at Jiko at AKL for dinner...the place is beyond beautiful...we had a fantastic table at the window which overlooked a brook just outside. Truely beautiful (ask for Michelle if you can and always say you're on your Honeymoon!)

If you plan to spend a lot of time at MK and Epcot, but want to get back to your room for breaks, choose Poly hands down. It's worth the extra cost for the time you will save commuting, IMO.

If it just comes down to theme, it's a matter of personal preference. They are both gorgeous and romantic.

We stayed at both in 2002 and I loved the AKL but not its location. We also love the Polynesian and with the larger rooms and better transportation plus you are connected to the GF and Contemporary by monorail so you have easy access to those resorts for their restaurants. I would have to vote for the Polynesian. AKL is nice, but I think the Polynesian would be very romantic. Watching Wishes from a hammock on the beach, romantic strolls around the grounds and so on.
