Need help choosing, please...

We are taking our friends to WDW next November. Specifically, for nine nights in November (from the 24th through the 2nd of december - checking out on the morning of the 3rd).

Right now we have ressies at Swan and that would be nice and all, but I'm considering renting points for DVC. (buying? renting? Whatever the term is) And how much money would we be looking at for a DVC resort? Right now we're paying $4005 for the swan, but since we bought APs, I think I can get into Pop for around $1000 for all of us.


As it stands, we have 4 adults and four kids - all the kids are ours, but we had to fib and say that the older two were staying with our (childless) friends because they won't let us all stay in the same room (our children are small and two of them co-sleep). So...anyway- with the other two adults, we requested connecting rooms, but they say they can't guarantee it.

Anywhoo - can anyone make a recommendation for a good DVC resort that we can look into? Something with two rooms that have a large bed and then a sleeper soft for the older girls would be great (they are only 7 and 5). Or?? I don't know. We're all flexible.

Also, what is the transportation to the parks like from DVC resorts?
Any other things we should know about the DVC resorts versus staying at the Swan or Pop Century? (We're considering downgrading to Pop, since our friend is OBSESSED with Jungle Book and recently saw the Pop resort's giant sculptures).

There's no perfect choice unless you give your friends the master suite of a 2 BR. If you will have a car, Old Key West would be my suggestion as it has two queens in the second BR AND a pull out queen plus it has a bigger kitchen. Otherwise, A dedicated 2 BR at BCV, SSR or VWL may work as well for many of the same reasons but doesn't have nearly as much space. Of course you could get a 2 BR for you plus a studio for likely not that much more than you're paying now if you avoid weekend nights.

You'd fit in any 2BR. You could sleep with your little ones in one bedroom and give the (much larger with great jacuzzi tub and king size bed) bedroom to your friends.

Most prominent differences:

OKW: biggest rooms and lowest cost
BWV: easy walk to Epcot and MGM and lots of restaurants
BCV: easy walk to Epcot and MGM
WLV: boat ride to MK


You'd have to caluculate the points to determine how much it would cost.

If you get along GREAT with your friends (and tend to get up and go to bed at the same time and neither is real sloppy and you trust they won't cancel on you) and are willing to give up the better bedroom, I'd go with a 2BR villa. Otherwise I'd go with 2 rooms at another resort.

If price is your main criteria then stick with PC for the 1000 bucks. If more room and comfort are what you are looking for, you could get a 2BR at OKW for a little less than what you will be paying for 9 nights at the Swan by renting the points.

Depending on resort, those 9 nights will run between 331 and 394 points for a 2-B/R villa. Points generally rent in the $10/point range so you'd be looking at $3310 to $3940 to rent points and get a 2-B/R villa. (That would be your total cost --- no taxes)

If money is the issue go with the PC rooms. If comfort (and best value) is the issue, go with an OKW 2-B/R unit. If location is most important, go with a 2-B/R at BWV or BCV (or VWL)
