Getting ready to book a fairy Tale package! I'm hoping to get some good decision making input from you all. I'd just about decided to go for the Poly. This all based on my love of the torches at night and the monorail access. I revisited pictures of the Poly and was reminded of how "brown" it is. The room pics were uninspiring, I guess I saw the old pool (yawn)and began to think I'd just go back to my old reliable CBR which I love the theming of. So, here's my point...There MUST be more to staying at the Poly than what I'm seeing. (I have visited it twice, and again, I was not in love with what I saw). If you think the Poly is worlds better, please let me know, and why. Paula

here's what I prefer about it:

Choices for shopping and meals is a quick monorail ride away (not to mention my dd thinks the monorail is an attraction itself!)

Views of the castle!

I was surprised at how tropical it felt to walk around the grounds compared to looking at it from afar.

Access to other parks is easiest - MK via monorail and you can make a quick walk over to the TTC.

Good morning Paula. You seem to be having the same 'reservations' as me! The Polynesian is my dd's dream resort. She has wanted to stay there since the first time she saw it, at age 5. We originally booked CBR for this August. Then dh says, 'upgrade!'. So, I book WL. Well, with the FT package, for about $400 more (and more days in the park because of it!!), we can book Polynesian!! It's just not my cup of tea as far as theming. But...I love the look of the new pool, I love the transportation options, especially for easy park access during the hot summer months. And the room size is a plus. We each get a bed here. Maybe someone can give some critiques of the restaurants for us. Since this is our last huge DIsney vacation as a family, we're going to splurge!!! However, I see the terrific AP rates and start second guessing myself.

Paula-

I felt the same way. We had stayed at a few other deluxes and every time I would pass the Polynesian on the monorail, I would always think to myself I would never want to stay there-ot looks so dated. Last year, for some reason, I booked a garden view/concierge room.

It was one of out best stays ever! Those brown buildings are not very appealing from afar, but there is something about the ambiance once you get these that really draws you in. The rooms have been updated, they are not great, just ok. The property is beautiful.

The pool is great, location is great! I think you'll really enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for the input! Can say i really liked the Kona Cafe. We went to Ohana once, and thought it was pretty good, but not a "have to go back". I'd love to hear more about the grounds, the theming and the pool. Haven't seen a pic of the new pool...does anyone know where one can be found?

Some advantages of Deluxe resorts are valet parking, doors to the room are inside the buildings, not outside, better room service, kid's clubs.

The theming of the Poly is gorgeous. I have quite a few pictures.

Polynesian resort.

The volcano pool.

There are some more links to the top of each page. :)
