For our trip in early December we have 10 people. Three rooms for 10 nights at POP is costing a total of $2100, which isn't bad! However, some of the other people think we should explore getting one BIG rental home. I've done that before and it worked out great, so moving off-site at that time of year won't bother me too much (10 nights is a long time with only fastfood!!!).

I've located 6 and 7 bedroom homes in Emerald Island and Formosa Gardens. Anyone with information/experience on these OR OTHER large home communities, please chime in with opinions. Please be specific about drive times, amenities at clubhouse, whatever you know.

Thanks, I appreciate the help!

try vrbo.com it is for "vacation rentals by owner" there are houses there with locations. also florida leisure is a name that comes to mind

I don't have an answer to your questions but if big homes is what your looking for you could try orlandovillas.com and villasflorida.com
Both great sites with lots of six and seven bedroom homes.
Good Luck!

Hello, Both of these are prime locations for Disney. They are both newer developments and they are the closest homes to Disney.

Emerald Island is a "resort" with clubhouse, big pool, heated large spa, game room, cyber cafe, and exercise room.
Formosa Gardens does not have a central clubhouse.

You can check out www.vrbo.com/22043 as one of the 7 bedrooms in Emerald Island.

I am sure you would be happy with either location.

Once you stay in a home, you will never do a hotel again with a large group.

Best Wishes, Ted

PattiPB,I agree with the above poster about renting a Vacation Home.Once you try it you'll never go back to a hotel...On site or not! Take a look at Orlando-Executive-Villas.com It's a 6 Bed/4 Bath Villa in the Rolling Hills estates.Looks Fabulous!

We rented a home in Windsor Palms which we loved so much we are renting it again in October. The people we rented it from have 5 homes, 2 are 4 bedrooms and 1 is a 6 bedroom and the other 2 are almost done being built at the new development down the road. It was beautiful and very clean, stocked with everything even detergent and beach towels! I loved it and with 5 DCherubs it is too expensive to stay on site unless we hit megabucks-although people tell me you actually have to play to win! If you would like more info. please feel free to IM me. Pixie dust to you.

Windsor Palms is a very nice complex. Their largest homes are 6 bedrooms. Clubhouse has exercise room, game room, video rentals, small store, small theater and community pool. There are also basketball and tennis courts and a playground, I believe. Complex is about 10-15 minutes from Disney and very close to shopping and dining.

I used VRBO in 2001 and had GREAT success with a 4 bedroom home, so I've only used VRBO in my search so far. I'll take a peek at the other websites suggested.

Thanks for the info on Emerald Island and Formosa Gardens---it's interesting to note Formosa has no central clubhouse.

winniedapooh---MegaBucks would just about cover my Disney obsession! LOL!! I'm right where the MegaBucks action is, but I don't play it, either!!!!

I agree with above stataements. We have stayed on property (Contemp) and loved it but after renting home in Formosa Gardens last year we are renting it again this year. I is so nice to have gated community and private pool, etc.

We chose our (huge) beautiful 5 bedroom rental home on www.floridavillas.com . It has been a very pleasant experience to deal directly with the owner, and know exactly what we're getting. :) A lot of the others home rental sites are just management companies, all you can do is tell them how many bedrooms you want/need, and you'll have no idea what you're getting or where it'll be located.

www.orlandovillas.com & www.floridavillas.com are the Best sites to see the actual house that you'll be getting and know just where it's located. :)

I too, will never go back to renting a hotel room!

Good Luck!!
