I haven't stayed at a Moderate resort in a while, and I am trying to help my parents choose one for our trip in May. Which moderates have been recently remodeled? Which one is your favorite? Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks for your help!

CSR was rehabbed in late 2004 / early 2005.

Best Food Court – Voted by DIS’ers
Pepper Market. Huge portions, great choices and tasty food. Lunch/Dinner Menu

Best Pool – Voted by Dis’ers
Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT QUICK INFO

JUST BACK THREADS

Hubby and I stayed at POFQ back in January. It was fabulous. It was small in size and everything was so very convenient. It was also relatively quiet and peaceful.

For our trip next year, we are booked at CBR. This resort is much more speard out from what I hear, but each "island" has it's own private pool and beach area, which appeals to me. We also like to walk, so being spread out isn't a terrible concern for us.

The differences between the two that I am aware are:
Size: POFQ is smaller. CBR is much more spread out.
Buses: POFQ shares with POR, but is picked up and dropped off first. CBR has bus stops throughout the resort.
Restaurants: POFQ only has a food court. CBR has a food court and a sit-down restaurant.
POFQ also has the boat which you can take to DTD.

We're hoping to eventually stay at each moderate. This time around, we chose CBR over CSR mainly because of the fact that CSR is a "convention" resort and we just don't wish to share our trip with convention goers at this point. We try to go off-peak so there are less people, so choosing a resort that is geared to conventions doesn't really fit for us.

Another vote for CSR!! The resort has great atmosphere, it's beautiful at night and romantic!! Not to mention all of the above info too. :cheer2: :cloud9:

My favorite is CSR ... but ... how old are your parents? Will they have some problems getting about? Then I would choose POFQ because it is so small and compact.

CBR - awesome food court with many options, colourful decor, does not share a bus with any other resort, largest rooms of the moderate resorts, very spread out.

POFQ - small resort, boat transport to DtD, nice walk along the Sassagoula River, shares a bus with POR which is often very crowded and a long line to get back from the parks.

POR - very spread out, boat transport to DtD, Sassagoula River, bad bus service, so-so food courts at both.

CSR (never stayed here) - food court does not work like a normal food court, does not share a bus with any other resort, kind of out of the way, each section has very different and equally pretty theming, buildings are 3 and 4 stories tall instead of the 2 at other mods.

CSR is awesome! Beautiful resort. It's spread out but there are shuttles(golf carts) that can atke you around. We've stayed at deluxe and I consider CSR baby deluxe.

Not all the buildings are 3 and 4 stories. The some ranchos and all cabanas buildings are only 2 stories tall. All buildings have elevators.

CSR gets my vote! It's beautifully landscaped. The Dig Site pool/playground/hot tub/snack shop area is great. The pool slide is one of the best compared with any resort. If you're on DDP, The Pepper Market is the best CS value on all of WDW property.

My dad does have some problems walking long distances, so this is good to know. Thanks!

I didn't know they have shuttles that take you around. Can you only get one from the main building, or can you call one to come pick you up at your room?

Given what you mentioned about your Dad, I think POFQ is the way to go. Everything is close. The boat to DTD will be nice and relaxing for him also. The only issue could be the bus transportation, however as POFQ is picked up and dropped off before POR, that could be reasonable.

If you stand on the sidewalk near your building,a shuttle will come by and get you.

The internal shuttle is now called the courtesy coach. CSR has extra long golf carts that are lime green. The courtesy coach only goes in one direction and will make flag stops along the route if there is room on the cart. You can also catch the shuttle at the back entrance to the main building.
