Okay, I'm at a loss. I just finished helping DD make up a jump rope routine for Jump Rope for Heart from a cheerleading mix I found on Limewire. However, I can't get it to burn to cd - can anyone out there help? I'm transferring it over to Windows Media Player to burn it to cd, but it won't burn it. It reads "May Not Fit" out to the side and then errors when I try to burn it.

And now I'm stumped again! I got it burned. It will play on the computer, it will play on the DVD player, but it will not play in either portable CD player we have. ???????

it depends on the playback capablities of the device.

I'm going to show my ignorance here - but I really don't know. I couldn't get it to burn with Windows Media Player, so I opened it with MusicMatch Jukebox and just burned it from there. I just hit the "Burn" button, so I'm really not sure how it saved it.

My DVD player could be different than our CD players? Seriously - I'm clueless about all this stuff.

Absolutely. Older and / or cheaper CD players ( and some DVD players ) can not read a "burned" disc.... regardless of file type.

And some DVD players can play MP3s while your portable CD player may not.

absolutely, a digital media device is preprogrammed to recognize different file formats. it might work in one, but not another.

Aha!! There would be my problem right there!! SIGH!! Hopefully one of the other moms in the group will have something that will play it for the girls.

there are conversion programs to rip, encode, and burn pretty much all media formats. once you actually burn onto a CD/DVD, you're stuck with the limitations of the device you're trying to play the file from, though.

So, I guess, in a nutshell - is there any way to burn this crazy 30 second file from Limewire onto a CD that will play in my cheap $30 boombox from Walmart? :teeth: I know that it can play burned cd's because we just used it to play the burned cd's that my DD's cheerleading coach made of their routine.

Alright - don't laugh. This is typically me. :badpc:

Under the "type" column on the Limewire Library, it says MP3
File size, 542.3 KB
Is that answering your question?

that's a tiny MP3 file. if the boombox can play any formats, it should be able to play that file.

From what I have gathered her boombox will not play MP3s but will played burned CDs. She needs to convert the MP3 to an audio file, but I think I used another program to do that. It's been a while.

an mp3 is an audio file

Well - don't have a clue - but now it's working. DD brought me her little VERY CHEAP cd walkman - played just fine in there. So, tried to see if we could get the volume up enough with her I-Dog so that it could be heard - that didn't work. On a whim, put in back in her boombox - NOW it works fine. Figured I was just nuts, so put it in my boombox - NOPE, won't work in mine. Her other burned cd's from cheerleading work fine - but not this one. I don't know - but doesn't matter. We've got one boombox that will play it, so we're good to go. Four hours of work for a 30 second routine - KIDS!! Gotta love 'em.
