We're visiting Vero Beach (May 31st -- June 4th) with the before and after weekends at WDW (BCV and Pop). We are very spoiled -- we tend to visit the first week of December, early October or February -- with very little crowds. The only peak visits have been in July & August but for 1 1/2 days total so we pick a one park and one water park.

All the talk about crowds these weekends -- May 28-30th and June 4-6th have me (the mean cheap Dad) saying....can't we just hang out and relax at the Beach Club pool -- we've never stayed there, we never just relax at WDW, and we could do other stuff (mini-golf, water park, rent bikes, play tennis, etc.). That is not going over well with any of our 4 kids and my wife is staying out of it (she doesn't care what we do....just as long as we are in Sunny Florida :sunny: vs. cloudy Pittsburgh :umbrella: ). 6 six day (no hopper) passes will run about $1100 (not worth doing just a 4 day) and wondering if we're going to be very disappointed (compared to the other times we've visited) with the number of things we actually get to do/ride.

Not feeling the Magic right now... :guilty:

PS -- even our youngest (DD6) has been to WDW 5-6 times

Hi from Gibsonia :wave2:

Our trips are usually for 15 days and we go to the parks every day. We always say we're going to have a few down days, but it never happens. :)

The crowds will be heavy, but with fastpass, EMH and some planning you can do alot of rides.

If you decide not to go to the parks, I'm your children will still have a magical time. There is so much to do.

Sending some pixie dust your way!!

Well ... I think you have to realize that if you don't go to the parks, at some point you'll get tired of the pool. Because the pool (and mini-golf and the water parks and the bike paths and the tennis courts) will be crowded too. If your point is to avoid crowds, then just staying out of the parks really won't do that for you. Sure, other places might be less crowded during the day while everyone is in the parks, but it's not like you'll have them to yourself either. And during that time of year, there's only so much time you can spend by the pool before you realize it's really hot out, and wouldn't it be nice to be inside that nice air-conditioned American Adventure right now! :cold:

If you're hoping to save money, you might do that by not buying park passes, but going a la carte to water parks, mini-golf, renting bikes and tennis equipment, plus the likely trips to DisneyQuest and other areas will still cost you. And you still have to eat, plus shopping will likely be an activity that your family will indulge in during the hours they might otherwise be standing in line for rides. So do the math and make SURE you're saving money not buying a pass. You might be surprised!

Why not compromise and do a three-day ticket and spend half your time in the parks and half elsewhere? That might please everyone. Seriously ... if what you want to do is just hang by the pool or the beach, wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just stay in Vero?
