can someone please direct me to the site that allows you to look at different scenarios for dvc vacations.i found caskbills site but it looks unfamiliar from th eone i had on my desktop.a friend cleaned up my comp a few months ago and i just realized it's now missing from my desktop.i searched and found one from caskbil but i don't know if it's an older version or an updated version.

You can also go to the official DVC site. Click on vacation planning, scroll down and you will see the interactive points calculator.

Have fun planning.

The DVC planner program has been around since 2001 when I first released it as an Excel program. That may be what you had, or perhaps you had one or the earlier executable versions. It is now version 1.51 (The Excel version is no longer being updated and has been replaced by the executable versions)

I also just this past year created another program, just for fun, named DVC-Chart which of course looks very different from the planner program. Both programs are available from my download site. See the link in the signature block below.

Were you using Dave Fredericks' point tracking program? It has a very different look to it. Sorry, I don't have his site link available right now.

Both of my two programs and Dave's program are installed on your computer, just like any other software you might acquire and install. All programs are free. I'm not aware of any other programs out there other than some of the simple on-line calculators and point charts such as those available here on the DIS.

That's a great program. What are you using to create it?

Both the DVC-Planner and DVC-Chart programs were created using Microsoft VisualBasic 6.0

I'm almost 100% certain that Dave's point manager program was also written in VB.

My DVC-Tracker program, still under development, is also being created in VB 6.0, using embedded dB SQL commands to access data.

I have no idea what embedded dB SQL commands means but I'm sure looking forward to your new tracker program, Bill!

Ah, don't fall for Bill's techno-babble; he writes all of his wonderful programs with the assistance of elves, faeries and lovable woodland creatures! :wizard:

All of which can be persuaded to sing "Do you believe in Magic?" on command at your chosen time interval.

How does he squeeze those woodland creatures into my computer? I'll never know. It's only a laptop.

I almost got that program, but then retired and had no use for it. I used Focus. I could tap any database in the company. Drove people crazy catching them cheating.

Actually it was easier than you might think. Desktops have full size woodland cretures embedded but I couldn't do that for laptops since there isn't enough room. However since laptops have such tiny speakers, I was able to user much smaller woodland creatures. Thanks to a little pixie dust they all sing so well you can't tell the difference.

Warning: Never go directly to your directory that contains the DVC-Planner program itself and click directly on the .WAV file itself or they might all escape and the magic goes away.

P.S., FWIW SQL=Source Query Language and dB = database and to embed in this instance means to use one programming language within the context of another language in order to do things the original language is not capable of. I really don't understand any of it. I just do what the elves tell me to do.:p
