So I just got wind of the fact that my cousin is having a baby in SEPT!!! I thought she was due in November. It's all been hush hush because she lost her first baby last year, after she had told everyone.
Anyway, I'm not crazy about the stuff she registered for, I will probably send her something off the registry but I was thinking of making a baby book. Problem is, the shower is on August 22nd.

Think I can whip together a book? Am I crazy to try?? I leave for Disney on the 26th, and have a million swaps to do. I want a basic first year book like we've done for the girls here.

Talk me out of it or cheer me on! LOL

UGH!! Help!!!

Is she someone who is a scrapbooker? If not I do a small 6 by 6 or 8 by 8 20 page baby album that only has 1 picture mat and a little room for journaling on each page. I actually have a cutting file for it (I bought it for my craftrobo) but I can tell you the pages when I get back- each even has a 2 oage spread and the first page is a record of birth statistics- printed nicely from word and the last page is a record of other firsts- if it she is not a scrapper something like this I find is more likely to be used and tends to go much faster. I choose 3 colors- pink, yellow, and purple for a girl and baby blue, mint and yellow for a boy and I use lots of stickers to embellish it as I have done these mainly for people that don't scrap and they don't understand the work that goes into something else.

If she is close to you- try making some of the bunder clips for her to use for photos of the baby right now and working on a book but not trying to get it done before the shower- give her a note that it is coming.

If you tell me what color you want I can cut out my titles files for you for the book and pack them for SDV- it only takes 2 sheets of paper to do all the titles in the book with the shadow- 2 for the words and a 2nd for the shadow.

You can DEFINITELY do it!!! (Says me that's a year behind with DS's stuff. . .) I think it's a wonderful gift, and you are so talented (not too mention super-organized)! You can knock this out, and she'll be thrilled!!

Super organized?? You must have me mistaken for someone else!! LOL

Rebecca she's having a girl. I'm not sure if they picked a name yet but I should see her sister this weekend so I'll try to squeeze it out of her and their mom.

Steph is a scrapper, not as advanced as I am but getting there.
The shower is going to be interesting, she is in Virginia and on bed rest so we are having the shower in Massachusetts and doing it all via webcam. I was thinking of mailing her a registry gift for her to open the day of the shower and maybe have the book ready for when the baby comes. I thought about it last night and I just don't think I can get it done. Plus I could take tags and have everyone write the baby a cute message and incorporate it into the book.

I would really appreciate the titles!! I'll buy you replacement paper when we get there. I was thinking of doing a few shades of pink and white for the whole album, it would go faster, don't you think?

Maybe do a paint can? I did one for my cousin and i have no pics of it. :sad2:

I took a gallon paint can, and decorated in baby girl, put her name on it and lifted this poem from someone the cricut board. and put it on the lid.

Baby books are wonderful,
But sometimes you’re too busy,
Living with a little one
Can put you in a tizzy.
Milestones pass too fast at times
To find the proper page,
So jot a note of each event
With date and baby’s age.
Like “got first tooth on June the 6th”,
Or “walked 3rd week of December”.
Then drop it in this memory can
To help you to remember!

I cut a ton of onsies off the NA cart in just plain cardstock and punched a hole in them and slid them on the handle. then put a few scrap goodies inside. It was a huge hit. Just wish i would have thought about it when my girls were born.

I was going to do the paint can for the shower, I still think I will mail it straight to her though. I did one for a teacher 3 years ago and it was a huge hit!
I love the poem, that is super cute! I will definitely use that, thanks!

No problem- I will look and see what shades of pink I have and use a dark and light for the titles. I have to use a thin paper for the titles because the cuts are intricate.

Titles are (all first______)

Moments
Visitors
Doctor's Visit
Smile
Tooth
Steps
Year
Bath
Haircut

I would offer to make others but I don't know the font that was used and wouldn't be able to get anything else that matched but if you wamt other things just dispearse them throughout the book- maybe every other page and it will look like you did the variety of title on purpose- especially if you just choose 1 other font to use for the rest of the titles.

Another really cute thing I saw was altering a roladex for each month of the year with cure paper and then adding qoutes about children and some ribbon onto it. Then when something happened mom could jot a note about it on a card and drop it in and then when they had time organize it- actually I think doing a month like thing for anyone who is busy would be good- I mean if you don't have to remeber every detail it is easier.

This was divided- into months like 1st month, 2nd month instead of calendar months.

The suiggestion was to just keep a few stacks of the cards around the house and then dropping them into the right spot when you get over there but that way they are written down and together.

Rebecca, where did you buy the files for your craftrobo? Do they make SCAL ones as well? My DN (who was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago!) is pregnant and I'm hoping to make her a baby book for her shower (she's not due until January and is finding out the sex of the baby this month!). I'd love to find those titles in SCAL.

Thanks!

I bought this set from Wishblading Well- which has now gone out of business- they have some of there buckets at paperthreads.com but they are not in a scut format. The baby one isn't listed over there either just Christmas and Love buckets.

I'd love to see a picture of one of these finished pain cans. What a great idea!
