We have always had a real tree and love them, but the last 5 years I've had trouble with them falling over, leaking water, and tired of the needle mess.

We've decided this year to try an artifical tree. Didn't really want pre-lit, but looks like unlit are very rare.

Would like advise on best place to buy one and type to get. Would love it to look real :rotfl2:, but know that's not going to happen. Also, I don't have a fortune to spend.

Do I need to go to specialty shop or can you find quality trees at Meijer or Walmart??

TIA

Have no clue about Meijer, but you can find decent trees from Walmart, and you will have a bigger selection online. You can also check out Hobby Lobby, Lowes and Home Depot, in addition to Sears. I know that Hobby Lobby at least will have coupons for 40% off, or they will have the trees on sale at some point.

I too usually do a real tree..but when I got pregnant we started doing an artificial so I was really picky and got one fo the Martha Stewarts from Kmart because it was SO real looking...well it died this year when we started to decorate so I started searching and found some really good deals. I almost bought one from JCPenney online that was a full 7.5 feet. But didn't want to wait for shipping as we were decorating last week. So that morning we got up and went to WalMart and there it was a tree that looked just like the one I had just lost for $198.00. They had 2 of them so we got it and came home. We can't even tell the difference between the 2. I love it.

It was really important to me to get a full tree with over 1900 tips and 800 lights. This tree has 1989 tips and 900 lights. It's also very full and not a slim tree. I love this type of tree because it looks like 2 tree branches mixed together.

It really is a matter of choice but I do know that Big Lots is having a good sale on them this weekend too...HTH!

You can find them at Meijer and Walmart. Any store that sells Christmas decorations typically has a few trees at least. I saw some at Joanne Fabrics yesterday and they are having a sale. If you have an Old Time Pottery near you they have great ones that aren't expensive.

I've never had a problem finding unlit Christmas trees, but I haven't bought one for about 2 years so maybe it has changed. Whatever type of tree you like you can find a fake one that looks very accurate. The more life like though, the more expensive I've found lol.

Try Christmas Depot online.

Two years ago I bought what I thought was going to be a great bargain of an artificial tree. When I opened the box on Thanksgiving weekend and started to put it together, I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry. My husband was standing by waiting to see which way it was going to go.

I got online and then called Christmas Depot. They were so great. When I told the operator my horror story she even gave me a discount on one of their trees. It arrived a few days later and it was lovely.

Good luck

I bought one last year at Meijer and I think I got it on sale for $89. I tried to find it on their website and I found two, one is currently $99 and the other is $118. It was one of the 6.5 foot slim trees. The tree we had before that we bought at Wal-Mart for around $100 (1998ish) and it lasted for several years. It was a tall bushy tree that looked very real. And honestly, I probably didn't need to get one last year, but I just liked the look of the slim ones. So, I recommend both places. The one I bought last year was not pre-lit. I too do not like the pre-lit ones either. Good luck!

You may want to check the Black Friday ads as some stores are having a sale on them.

Michael's has some on sale this week and I think Joann's is having a sale on them next week. Lowe's usually reduces them right after Thanksgiving.

I bought the GE Frazier Fir after Christmas the year before last and it is a nice tree. I also have a smaller 6 1/2 tree that I purchased from Walmart about 4 or 5 years ago that is still holding up.

The pre-lit trees are heavy so do remember that.
