My BF's kids both decided at the last minute they want to spend Christmas with us. We bought the plane tickets $$$$; now we need to figure out what to get them.

The 20 year old is living in an apartment in another part of the country (far away from us) so we really don't have any idea what he needs or wants.

The 16 year old lives with his mother in another part of the country (far away from us) so we really don't have any idea what he needs or wants.

I suggested cash LOL, but my BF wants to get them other things besides that. What do 20 year olds and 16 year olds want these days?

truly cash. The 20yo if he's on his own could use things like gas cards, pizza gc's, etc.

At that age, they prefer cash. If your BF wants to get them an actual "gift", they are his kids, have him pick them out something.

I am getting my 20 year old nephew a gift card to AutoZone. He has a truck, and likes to work on it. My twin 17 yo nephews are each getting a gift card to the local pizza/sub shop.

Honestly, they want cash. Or electronics...cell phones, ipods, computers, game systems, etc. But you would need to know what stuff they didn't already have, first.

Is there any chance that your BF might be willing to consider asking the kids' mom for ideas?

bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha :rotfl:

No.

But the gas cards, auto place and pizza places, etc. are good ideas.

We got the 16 year old a playstation 2 a couple years ago, but I don't know if he uses it anymore, nor would we know what games he has by now.

The odds are good that he still uses his playstation. All the 16 yo that I know play. Try to get the newest game out there, I bought my 17 yo Prince of Persia and my nephew Need for Speed (Underground, I think?). Buy the game at Target or Best Buy and if he doesn't like it, he can exchange it. But personally, I don't think that you can go wrong with a PS2 game.

I know that they are older and everyone says that they want cash but my teenagers still want stuff. Of course, they don't know what kind of stuff they want! LOL!
