We are planning a big party for my mom for her 60th. I have no idea what at all to get her. She won't travel so something like that is out. Either my siblings and I could all chip in and get something, or we will each get her something nice. I'm not super close to my mom so this is tough. She loves to garden and has a fish pond. I don't think she would appreciate anything like a spa service. She doesn't need any appliance kinds of things. She likes her pc and likes to have new things for it. So that's a possibility. But I don't know what. She has a digital camera and a nice printer.

How about going to a photographer with all the kids and grandkids and getting a family portrait done. You could either suprise her with the picture or give her a gift certificate for it so that she can be in the picture.

Not sure what to recommend, but in July I can tell you what I might get. :teeth: An early Happy Birthday to your mom.

I've been struggling trying to think of a Mothers Day gift for my Mum this week!

You mentioned she loves her garden and she has a pond.

Does she have a bird table, bird feeder or perhaps a pretty stone statue? Gardening books, new gloves, pruners, etc....there really are alot of things in the gardening theme to choose from! :)

Good luck! ;)

How about taking her out to lunch at a place that has a nice flower garden, then later taking her to a botanical type garden where you can buy her a plant to remember her birthday by.
I like Belle's idea of a bird feeder or something for her garden-she beat me to it.

Can you get together pictures and other memorabilia from her life and scrapbook it????

Can't do the family portrait. Sister and her family are in Chicago and her kids won't be here til summer. We are doing it this summer. It always seems like I get her something for her garden or a restaurant gift cert. because I don't know what else to do. The scrapbooking idea sounds good, if we can get into the house and find things without her knowing. It is going to be a phila. themed party, since that is where she grew up. My aunts are getting hoagies, soft pretzels, tasty cakes, butter cake, etc...

If she loves to garden and has a fish pond... maybe a nice bench swing? We got one for my Mom for her cabin a few mother's day's ago and she really enjoys it.

For my DH's Grandmother, I sent out a messages to her kids, grandkids, great grand kids to write down several memories they have of GG (grandma's nickname). They sent them back to me and I typed them out and then used scrapbook scissors to cut them out. Then I rolled them into small scrolls and tied them with ribbon. Finally, I put them in a jar with candy (The number 1 memory of this lady was stealing candy from her candy jars!!!) and presenting her with our memories. SHE LOVE IT. and even though there is a range of closeness, everyone participated. It was fun.

Linda:)

I threw a party for my mom and created a PowerPoint story of her life kind of thing set to music. We borrowed the projector from work and put it up on the wall. I also had one of her more glamorous younger photos enlarged and got a white mat. Everyone signed the mat with a Sharpie.

I really like the idea of a family portrait. Or how about putting together a scrapbook. We did little mini ones for my DH's Grandmother and aunts and they loved them.
