Need Gift Help Quick....please and thank you!

Hi all. I've been invited by my boyfriend's family to spend Christmas with them in New Brunswick. I will be going with my boyfriend, his parents and his older sister and we will be staying with his aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins (ages 17 and 24). We're leaving next Friday.

I'd like to bring them a gift to thank them for welcoming me into their home during the holidays. Something that the whole family can enjoy together preferably but I'm at a loss for ideas.

One thing to take into consideration is that I will need to transport this gift through US/Canadian customs as I live in the US and he and his family live in Canada. Also, we will be flying.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

I would think a nice gift basket would be nice. It may be a pain to carry on the plane with you, but well worth it to thank them for their hospitality.

What about a gift certificate for dinner someplace? You can probably look online for something near their home.

I made a gift basket of locally produced items and specialty foods, like Virginia peanuts, Williamsburg taffy, southern-style jams/jellies/and condiments, and stuff like that for some of my family members - that way it's neutral, but a taste of where I live. I would have given them a Virginian ham, but it's pricey.

Anyway, maybe you can find something that is a specialty food or novelty item from where you live to share with them.

I like the gift basket idea, but if that won't work for you, how about a game? Something like Outburst or Cranium can be fun for teens and adults to play together.

Or a "Night at the Movies". You could get a gift card for either a local movie theater, or for Blockbuster (or whatever is near their home), and give it with a popcorn bowl and some packets of microwave popcorn.
