Need "fluff" book rec' for long flights

Best fluff books of all time are Sophie Kinsella books...especially the Shopaholic series!

I was just going to recommend this series. "Mini Shopaholic" is released today, I believe (I got shipping notification on my pre-order from Amazon.com last night).

Have you read any of Debbie Macomber books? I picked up the first Cedar Cove series at a garage sale (got hooked) and am now on #6. Light reading with a little romance thrown in. The characters continue in the series. I think the first one was 124 Rosewood Lane. The second book starts with a 2 in the address etc. Check her website, and read them in order.:)

If you are looking for absolutely HILARIOUS books, try the Celia Rivenbark books. They are collections of essays. I think that she is a columnist in the south and the books are collections of her columns. Word or warning though, when I read one of them on a plane I started laughing so hard that the person next to me thought I was insane. I could NOT get a grip!

Anyway, some of my favorites are Bless Your Heart Tramp, Stop Dressing your Six Year Old Like a Skank, and You Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start in the Morning.

I have them all and every person that I have passed them onto has loved them! Here's a link to her books on Borders, com

Agreed!! She is amazing. I thought I was going to pee my pants when I read "We’re Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions Of A Tarnished Southern Belle". :lmao:

Best Teeny bopper book series is the Pretty Little Liars series by Sara Sheppard. I also really enjoyed Sophia Kinsella's books. She did the Confessions of a Shopaholic series, but I liked her stand alone books better.

Did it?? I have been waiting!

I'm reading an hysterically funny book called Mennonite in a little black dress by Rhoda Janzen

Do you have an ipod? It is so easy to download books from your library or audible.com. On international flights it can be much easier to listen to a book rather than reading it.

I must have at least 30 books on my ipod. So easy to carry. I did a lot of international travel and found that on a 14 hour flight one book wasn't enough. I'd be carrying 3-4 books plus buying more at airports, etc.

Joan Hess has the Maggody Series. Also M.C. Beaton with the Hamish Macbeth "Death of a -----" series.

I agree with previous posters about the Sookie books, very light really quick but enjoyable reads. Also I like Fern Michaels, The Sisterhood series, very easy reads.

I like Joanne Fluke mysteries. Though don't read it while dieting.

Denise in MI

I like Sophie Kinsella. The "Shopaholic" series and her other titles.

Have you read Jeannette Walls books "The Glass Castle" and "Half Broke Horses"? I love them both and both are in paperback.

Anyway, some of my favorites are Bless Your Heart Tramp, Stop Dressing your Six Year Old Like a Skank, and You Can't Drink All Day If You Don't Start in the Morning.

:rotfl: I must read those books!!

I just read Echoes by Danielle Steel and loved it. It is a romance set with a backdrop of WWI to WWII.

The Help is amazing! :thumbsup2 Water for Elephants is really good--a quick read, but not really "fluff". I second all the Shopoholic series too!! Ohh, and Have you read Bitter is the New Black or others by that author (can't remember name)? Those are tear-jerking funny!!

:rotfl: I must read those books!!

You won't be sorry! Unless of course you are easily offended or are overly politically correct, because she is definitely not! I think the first one is Bless Your Heart, Tramp. I would start with that one.

My kids always ask me to leave the room when I am reading them because my constant laughing out loud annoys them. :lmao:

So glad "our" Celia is getting good reviews in other places! She is truly hysterical and has such a great way of looking at the world. I always give her books as hospital gifts because they are light and funny, and you can read a little bit at a time.

On a personal note, her Duh-Hubby, as she calls him in the columns, has just beaten cancer and she has just now returned to writing after taking time off to help him fight it. (it was pretty rough) Her first two new columns were great - she hasn't lost it at all. Looking forward to lots more good writing!

And OP - a fluffier mystery series I've gotten into lately is the Sabastian St. Cyr mysteries by C.S. Harris. The first one is What Angels Fear. They are set in Regency England and have fascinating period detail and a light mystery for our hero to solve, plus a little romance.

My summer reading is always "light" I save the heavy for the winter:rotfl2:
I love the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich The first book is One For the Money

I also enjoyed Big Stone Gap by A. Trigiani(I think that's how she spells it- met her once and she was just lovely)

Oh but my all time favorite book is Charm School by Nelson Demile(I actually really enjoy anything he writes- most of his older stuff are my favorites.)

Love everything by Adriana Trigiani! Big Stone Gap will be a movie soon and will also have a 5th book in the series!! yay!!:woohoo:

Look into the Lauren Willig series, great mystery/history mix. Easy reads but interesting.
And there is enough of the series to last through a few flights. The first is either "The Masque of the Black Tulip" or "The Secret of the Pink Carnation. They are avaliable on half.com.

The Host by Stephenie Meyer is really good. I thought it was better than Twilight. And anything by Zoey Dean is fluffy, easy, and fun. I also really liked Secret Society Girl, by Diana Peterfreund.

Have you read any Lisa Scottoline? She writes lawyer/ mystery novels kind of like John Grisham, but better. I love her sense of humor.

I REALLY enjoyed "look again" by Lisa Scottoline
I also love Sookie Series
I am really enjoying Elin Hilderbrand books...they take place in Nantucket
I LOVE Jodi Piccoult and I feel they are an easy read but not light

Agreed!! She is amazing. I thought I was going to pee my pants when I read "We’re Just Like You, Only Prettier: Confessions Of A Tarnished Southern Belle". :lmao:

I was looking for some light reading for a cruise. Sound that this might fil the bill. ANy other suggestions for cruise fare reading?
