We were a grand gathering of 9 people in June and because this was a trip we won (
) we got to choose a grand gathering dining experience.
We chose the Illuminations Storybook Dinner and it was so awesome. I kind of just expected it to be a nice dinner and a special spot to see the fireworks but it was so much more. It is a wonderful buffet dinner with foods from all over "the world" and a great little kids buffet bar too. But while you are eating a woman named Roz ciculates around the tables in her gypsy like costume. She was hilarious and found out all sorts of things about the groups that were there (probably about 10 other groups in the banquet room).
Then between dinner and dessert she and TJ the DJ (who entertains the kids all through dinner with looks and silly things) get all the kids up front for a little play. Then they told us there were some surprise visitors and out come Minnie Mouse and Goofy who danced with everyone on the dance floor for probalby 20-30 minutes. I can't tell you what a speical moment it was to see my 6 year old be asked to dance by Goofy!
Then we had wonderful desserts and they escorted us out to a phenomenal spot to see Illuminations right next to the water. It was the first time we had seen that show because we missed it our first trip - amazing!
Every person there is also given a special edition pin that is shaped like a storybook with different countries on it which can not be purchased anywhere.
So all in all it was a really special night that left our whole party - ages 6 to 48 with three teenagers in there too - feeling the Disney magic!
