need expert opinions on what option to use for booking a weekend

Ok here is the scenario
We need to accomodate me, dh, Ds MIL and FIL for a thursday Friday and Saturday night in Sept.

Now I don't even know what accomodations would be best or if I should get 2 studios or a two bedroom.

Should I book using points or do I book using points and cash. What is the least expensive way to get a cash room. the DVC cash discount of 25% or the AP discount, rent points (so I don't have to borrow)? MY mind is spinning.

Should I rent out my measley remaining 28 points and just pay cash at any of the resorts with the AP discount. I would love to stay at the AKL but I would also love for MIL and FIL to experience a DVC resort....Help!

I would rent out or transfer to another DVC'er my remaining points and use the cash towards booking a room. Is is too late for you to bank those 28 points? I would stay at AKL if you really want to and try to get a AP discount. You can always plan another trip with the inlaws at a DVC resort. Personally I would always put the inlaws in their own room!!LOL Either at AKL or if you do stay at a DVC resort I would get 2 studios. I'm sure they would also like to have their own space. Also, I think it is sometimes less points to have 2 studios rather than a 2 bedroom.

Your best deal will probably be an AP rate for two rooms at a deluxe, tho a 2BR at the DVC discount might be comparable. In my experience, the discounted 2BR will likely run you around $450 after tax, while AP rates for 2 deluxe rooms should be a bit lower, even with savannah view.

In your shoes, I'd book a 2BR w/DVC discount at a DVC resort, then jump on AP rates once they come out for your desired deluxe. And rent out those 28 points, if no longer bankable.

Then again, if you could add a Thursday or Sunday night on, the DVC 2BR might be a better deal after all; plus you could use up those 28 points.

I would rent 2 studios for the 3 nights. If you have points that you can borrow, just borrow them. If you need extra points next year, you can always rent them later. In my opinion you don't need a 2 bedroom for only 3 nights. If the weekend nights really bother you that much than I would rent the 28 points out or transfer them to someone else, if you can't bank them at this point. Try to get an AP rate at one of the deluxes or mods for the three nights. Have fun.

I would also have to say (without knowing your financial situation and without knowing your future plans) that you should just borrow the points. If you need more points in the future, rent some then. You have points to us so use them. Don't worry about the whole weekend thing and just borrow. Even if you end up borrowing every year, what's the difference? You will run out of points in 2041 instead of 2042, that's it.

You know I was thinking of that! Thanks HBC I would really love to stay at a DVC resort with them. OHHHHH Maybe Wildreness Lodge!!!! That is similar to AKL but still DVC!!!!! Oh man when Dh gets home I am planning!!!!

Man I am doing the math and I need to add on LOL!!!!!!!!! But it is completely doable since we will still have 86 points left for 2006 if we borrow and you all know how I am off season studio queen LOL!
