Help! Trying to win a contest that is run in our local paper every day. This contest goes on for a month. For this week, I know some of the answers, but need help with a few. I need answers to a few questions. 1) What actor plays the stomach part at Cranium Command? 2) How many attractions were in operation when Epcot opened on Oct. 1, 1982? and 3) What is the translation of Otium cum Dignitate, the motto of the Rose and Crown Pub in the United Kingdom? If I win this at the end of the month, I get a trip for eight for a week to WDW! Thanks all!

George Wendt is the stomach guy. Sorry, don't know the other questions. Good luck!

I don't know the others, but the Otium cum Dignitate, I believe means Ease with Dignity.

Epcot opened with: Five Future World and nine World Showcase pavilions at Epcot: Spaceship Earth, The Land, Journey Into Imagination, Universe of Energy, World of Motion, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Mexico, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, American Adventure

...so 14 attractions in all.

edited because I can't seem to count today.

I don't believe World of Motion was an original Epcot attraction. I visited in 1989, and it was being constructed. Horizons, however, was open.

Sooner Kate also said "15" but only listed 14.

We gotta be on top of this to get you prize, Barbruka.

World of Motion was an original Epcot attraction (I rode it in 87, perhaps it was down for amintencance when you where there), Horizons opened about a year after Epcot did, as did Living Seas.

Thanks wdwhound. I'm probably getting senile. I just remembered that we didn't get to ride it until the next trip.

I don't know if it is my computer or what, but that site is incredibly slow, and most doesn't come up. Can anyone else help me?

OK there is alot of snow coming down and my pts are not coming so I have so free time...I do not profess in anyway to be a disney expert, but according to the intercot site the following are listed as attractions that were open 10/1/82

Spaceship earth
communicore west
communicore east
universe of energy
world of motion
journey into imagination
the land

MEXICO
CHINA
GERMANY
ITALY
AMERICAN ADVENTURE
JAPAN
FRANCE
UK
CANADA
FRIENDSHIPS
DOUBLE DECKER BUSES

so that it 16 or 18 whether or not you count the ships and buses (intercot counts them as "attractions")

and english to latin translating sites say
otium= freetime, leisure,ease,peace
cum=with
dignitate=merit, worth, prestige, dignity

I do not profess this to be the final answer...anyone with better details????

this is fun!!!!

I have no answers, just wanted to say hello to my friend Barb :wave:

I have an old book about Epcot that was released in conjunction with the park's opening. It lists attractions in Future World as Spaceship Earth, Earth Station, Universe of Energy, World of Motion, Journey Into Imagination, The Land and Communicore. The pavilions in World Showcase are The American Adventure, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, China, United Kingdom and Mexico. (Interestingly, Africa is said to be under construction!)

Yikes! Future World is hard to figure out.

The book does say that "Otium Cum Dignitate" means "Leisure With Dignity."

Good luck!

Thanks everyone! So it looks like there were 16 attractions open. And Leisure with dignity is the answer of what Otium cum Dignitate is. And George Wendt is the stomach! Now next week there will be eight more questions. If I need help, I will post here again. If we get all eight answers right each week for four weeks, we will be entered in the grand drawing. I will keep everyone informed! If we win, I'm taking my whole immediate family and my parents who have never been to WDW. HEHE!
