I want to bid on something that has no other bids. It still has a fews left, but we are going to be away when the auction ends. If I enter my maximum bid of $10.00 since there are no other bids, is that what the bid will be NOW or is that just where my bidding will stop at? Does that make sense?

That is where your bidding will stop at. It will start you at the minimum bid.

No, your bid will be the beginning bid amount and will only go up if someone tries to outbid you.

Okay so then actually I am bidding only the .99 cents where it is now correct...until someone outbids me??? If someone does, how much will my bid go up..and then only to $10.00 right?

Your bids will only increase little bits at a time. Say .50 or so.

Yes, you'll only pay 99 cents UNLESS someone else puts in a bid.

Yes you will only be biding the .99 cents until someone else bids, so long as they don't out bid you ebay will keep biding on your behalf until the end of the auction. If at the last minute someone bids 10.01 than ebay will notify you that you have been out bided, they will not bid any higher for you because your max amount was 10.00
