I'm cooking dinner right now and need a receipe for a Cherry Dump Cake. Or any receipe using a can of cherry pie filling and a chocolate cake mix
thanks

ok... this is how I do it.. but I have Never used a chocolate cake mix

9x13 pan sprayed with Pam

Layer as follows:

1 can crushed pineapple - which I would not put with chocolate...
1 can cherry pie filling
1 box cake mix
shredded coconut
chopped pecans/walnuts
11/2 sticks melted butter

bake at 350 for 25 minutes

If I were to try this with chocolate cake mix, I would take out the pineapple, add another can of cherry pie filling or cherries, and maybe top with some mini chocolate chips or white chocolate chips

OK, I don't think I even want to know about this:eek: :rotfl:

Here are several I've complied:

Dump cake - It's really more like a cobbler but, nevertheless, very tasty :

Take a large can of pears, with the juice, and dump it into a greased cake pan. Sprinkle a package of blueberry muffin mix over the top. Slice up 3 - 4 Tbsp of butter and dot top of cake mix and bake at about 400 until it's bubbly and the top is browned. SOOOO delicious. (This first one was published in Taste of Home's Quick Cooking a while back.)

Variations:
Pour one large can of peaches in a 9x13 cake pan, sprinkle one spice cake mix over the top, dot with butter and bake.

Pour 2 cans of cherry pie filling into it greased cake pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle a yellow (or chocolate) cake mix dry over the top. Dot with butter or margarine. Bake about 20 min. Serve over vanilla ice cream.

Cherry Pineapple
Take 1 can of cherry pie filling and put in 9x13 greased cake pan spread out on bottom, then 1 can of crushed pineapple spread on top of cherries, do not mix. Then spread one box of yellow cake mix (any kind). Dot with butter. Optional: top with one cup of crushed pecans.
Put in oven at 350 degrees for approximately 30-45 minutes (until top is nicely browned).

2 cans Apple Pie Filling
1 (18 oz) Duncan Hines Caramel Cake Mix
1 stick of butter or margarine (cut into pats or melted)

Dump pie filling into a 9"x13" baking pan. Dump cake mix evenly over pie filling. Dot top with pats of butter or pour melted butter over mix. Place in 350 degree oven and bake 35 or so minutes. The top will be golden brown and bubbly.

To use fresh apples, peel and slice 5 cups of apples. put them in a kettle along with 3/4 cups sugar, 2 TBSP. cornstarch, 1 tsp. cinnamon (more or less to your liking) and pinch of salt. Stir well, then add 1 cup water. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently until apples are soft and mixture is thick. Proceed with recipe above.

Here's a WW dump cake recipe. Very tasty and only costs 3-4 points per serving, depending on the cake mix & kind of fruit I use.

1 box of cake mix
(2) 12 oz. packages unsweetened frozen fruit and/or berries
2 cups diet lemon-lime soda (Sprite, 7-up, etc.)

Spray 9X13" pan with Pam. Spread frozen fruit in bottom of pan. Sprinkle cake mix over fruit. Gently pour soda over cake mix. DO NOT STIR Cover with foil & bake at 350 for 20 min. Uncover & bake 20-30 minutes more till cake topping is set & light brown. Makes 12 servings

I just made the cherry and pineapple dump cake tonight for the first time. It is soooo good. I served it with vanilla ice cream. YUM! :dance3:

Easy peasy recipe:

Dump 2 cans of cherry pie filling in the bottom of a 13X9 baking pan.

Sprinkle a box of dry white or yellow cake mix all over the top of the cherries.

Melt 2 sticks of butter (not margarine) and drizzle all over the dry cake mix.

Bake at 375 until the top is a golden tan. Sometimes I turn up the heat to 400 for the last few minutes to brown the crust up better.

Serve hot or cold, but it's much better hot! Be careful -- It's very addicting.

My variation of this
1 can cherries and a deep dish pie pan
1 white cake mix
1 cube real butter melted

Layer:
cherries, then 1/2 of the butter and the cake mix. Lightly pat the cake mix smooth and then top with the rest of the butter. Bake at 375 approx 45 minutes until top is golden brown and cherry filling is bubbling up through the topping. Yummmm

I think I need the "Dummies Guide to Making Dump Cake" version of this recipe. I tried to make it today and it just didn't work out at all.

I placed the 2 cans of cherry pie filling in the bottom of a 13"x9" greased pan. Then I opened the cake mix and spread it evenly over the pie filling. Then I sliced butter pats and placed them all over the top. After I baked it, I ended up with nothing but dry cake mix on top of warm cherry pie filling. Where the butter had melted, it seemed better, but the majority of it was nothing but dry cake mix. Are you supposed to mix it all up or something? Oh, I baked it at 350 for about 40 minutes.

This is my pseudo-dump cake recipe...slightly more complicated (but not very much!):

Easy Cherry Cobbler

2 T. butter, melted
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. milk
1 can cherry pie filling.

Melt butter and put into an 8" square pan. Mix sugar, flour, salt, b. powder and milk together, and pour into the pan. Cover with cherry pie filling (do not mix). Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.

So yum, and I'm more likely to have all those staples around rather than a cake mix...
