Hi we have spring break planned at DC and have gotten some amazing help from disboarders!

FINAL question - need one last table service idea near Verizon center in DC. We are doing CLYDES one night. Someone suggested Carmines, looked a little pricey to me thought I am sure it is worth it! DD is gluten intolerant and dining at an Italian place while you are forced to eat rice pasta and avoid the bread is tough!!!

Any other thoughts on a Clydes like place or something else that isn't Italian??

THANKS!

There are about a million restaurants near Verizon center, so you shouldn't have any problems finding something. Tons of chains as well as smaller restaurants.

Clydes is a good choice. Matchbox is my other "go-to" recommendation, but it's primarily a pizza place (sit down, nice pizza, not pizza hut type) so that might not work for you. Here's the menu so you can check it out: http://matchboxchinatown.com/menu

There's also a Rosa Mexicana right there, too.

have a great trip!

Lots of Clydes like places around verizon center. Not any real need to plan in advance. Just walk around and you'll have plenty to chose from

Clyde's is ok. It's the type of place that I will go for happy hour occasionally, but wouldn't really make a destination for dinner - the food's fine, but nothing special.

Good, moderately priced restaurants in that area (non-Italian) would include Zaytinya, Jaleo, Oyamel, Ping Pong Dim Sum, and Hill Country BBQ, in that order - there are probably some additional ones I am forgetting about.

I agree with the wandering around! There are so many restaurants, so many cuisines. The thai place right at Verizon Center is actually pretty good. Clydes is ok, it's kind of a DC tradition. You can get great small plates, tapas, fusion - it's all right there. One that's a few blocks further, but I've heard interesting - as in fun, funky - things about is Busboys and Poets. Matchbox is also really good, but it is mostly pizza and salad. Check their menu, they are a locals' favorite. If you're willing to do a 'not' sit down, Nandos is great. Have fun!!!

Clydes changed their menu about a year or so ago. It's not what it used to be. Food was OK but I liked the old menu better. Just MHO. It just has more of a chain restaurant feel where the food is heated up and not prepared fresh.

Thanks so much for great input! Booked Matchcar! Looks perfect.

We are revisiting American History Museum and then going to Newseum. I love booking lunch places via OPEN TABLE. Any good recommendations for a place near one of these two places? Last year we relied on the indian café place in one of the museums and it was awful for her gluten. I really need to plan ahead for her food or we end up stuck and she is miserable and hungry!

THANKS!

The Source - Wolfgang Puck is in the Newseum. I doubt it's cheap, but it sure is close! There is also a walk-up called the Protein Bar (something like that). They sent some salad samples into our office, and they were pretty good. I think their thing is salads and burritos.
