Hi

We are planning a trip DH, DD (age 9) DS (age 3) and my mother. This is the 1st time that my mother is coming with us to Disney. So I would like to make it very memorable. Does anyone have any ideas for restaurants that we should not miss. We would like to do some characters meals too. Does anyone have any feedback on Coral Reef Living Seas??

Thanks

Crystal Palace has a very good buffet with the Winnie the Pooh characters....I highly recommend it. Also, Boma has a great buffet at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Lodge is, in my opinion, an attraction unto itself. If your children are into animals, plan to go to the Lodge early so you can go out and do some animal watching. Have fun!!!!

If expense isn't a big issue, I think everyone should eat in the castle (at Cinderella's Royal Table) at least once. I also agree with the previous poster about Crystal Palace. It's particularly good at breakfast. Also note that on days when there is no emh in the morning, you can make ressies before the park opens (i.e. at 8:15 when the park opens at 9). It's a great thing to walk down an empty Main Street for photos, and adults have as much fun with Pooh and Piglet as the kids.

At Epcot, Coral Reef is a great experience. It's not my favorite, but the ambiance is cool. I'm also a huge fan of the atmosphere in the WS restaurants.

At MGM, try the character meal at Hollywood and Vine for the little one if he likes the Playhouse Disney characters. 50s Prime Time Cafe may also be a lot of fun for your mom.

And don't forget that the resorts have great dining. WCC at WL, Chef Mickey's at CR, and Ohanas at the Poly all have great entertainment in the form of waitstaff at the first and games and music at the other two. Great characters at CM and Ohanas, too. For food quality, you might consider an upscale dinner at California Grill at the CR or something at the AKL. (Especially if you're not staying there, it's fun to see the animals when you go for a meal.) You may also want to look into going to tea at the GF one afternoon. It might be fun to go with your daughter and your mom.

Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge is a great place. Lots of interaction for the kids (and adults too!...just don't order a large drink! :lmao: ). Boma is an excellent buffett and the surroundings are awesome! Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's are two great character breakfasts; I've done both but prefer Crystal Palace. Also, Kona Cafe at the Poly is awesome! It's one of my and DBF's favorite restaurants!

We took my mother down for her first trip in 30 years this past spring. Some of the meals she enjoyed were lunch at Brown Derby as well as dinner Boma, Artist Point, and Cali Grill. There were a few others but these are what she still talks about five or six months later.
