Is deck one quiet or noisy? Do all the CMs trek up and down past the guest rooms? We could get connecting rooms closer to the elevator and ship center than what we presently have booked. Pros and cons anyone?
We found deck one to be great. Not noisy at all. The crew area is all the way down the hall. We never saw crew come past our room. We had 5 cabins 2044, 46, 48, 50, 52.
Deck one is the best for getting on/off the ship for shore excursion and Castaway Cay. Just walk down the hall and your off the ship. Very convenient.
We were pretty mid-ship down a bit from the elevators. It was a great location. Not many people pick up the elevator down there so it was always easy to get.
We were in 1065 (midship) and joked about being in the 3rd class/crew quarters but we loved it. The only noise was what sounded like the stablizers adjusting and sometime carts in the hallway behind our stateroom. I think it was a lot quieter than being under decks, restaraunts etc. I went up to deck 2 to do laundry and found it much busier and crowded feeling. I would stay on 1 again in a heartbeat.
On our last cruise on 8/3 we stayed on Deck 2 in cabins 2046 and 2048. We also like Deck 2. We were right under guest service and it was so easy to get to all the things going on in the atrium.
We had previously always stayed in Cat 4 (for 4 cruises) but the last two cruises we moved down to Cat 9 to save money. Missed the verandas but not enough to justify the cost of the Cat 4's.
You do know about the porthole difference, right? If not, check out the photos on my website. It's two small portholes rather than one large.
