We have not been to Disney in two years, so I am a little "out of the loop".
Just started planning a Disney trip for the end of October. 2 adults and 2 children ages 17 & 15. Things worked out with school schedule and free dining.

As of now we have a courtyard view at WL (with the free dining) on hold.
I have always wanted to stay at the Poly and as of now there are still garden view rooms with the free dining available.

My question is....would you switch? I have to make final payment by Monday and I have to make a decision.
There is obviously a price difference. That is not my main concern. What is making me nervous is renovations/construction. I keep reading posts about construction, DVC etc....
We have been to WL when renovations were taking place and it was very unobtrusive. (an elevator may have been closed or something like that and rooms may have been worked on but it does not stick out in my mind as being a problem)

I feel like this is going to be our last trip for a while...son going to college next year, etc... Poly has always been my "dream resort"

Just want opinions, should I go for it or stay put at our current favorite, Wilderness Lodge???

Thanks!

Hmmmmm...that is a tough question! WL is an amazing resort (our favorite) :cloud9: and we have always wanted to stay at the Poly too. However, our next family trip is next year and I don't want to take the risk of being in a construction zone, so we booked GF instead.

That being said, if this possibly your last trip for awhile, you may still want to do Poly. I would think that October cant be too bad. Construction "stuff" had been scheduled to start today, with applicable walls going up, etc...if you think that won't bother you, you would probably be fine. And, the construction appears to be confined to one side of the resort so you could make a request for the other non-construction zone side...

Tough choice....good luck! :goodvibes

In your situation I would upgrade to Poly. You don't have little kids that are going to be napping during the day to worry about. It is a beautiful resort and has monorail access!

We've stayed at both and while we love the WL, the Poly is our favorite and is absolutely amazing :goodvibes. Construction is just in the beginning stages (walls are supposed to start going up today), so I don't think it will be too bad in October. Nothing is happening as far as the pool, GCH, etc right now, so if it were me, I'd go with the Poly. We love everything about the resort and can't wait to get back there in December. You can't go wrong with the WL, but the Poly is just :cloud9:. Good luck.

If Poly is your dream resort, why not go for it?

You're right, Disney is very good about making construction unobtrusive.

If you were going to stay at Poly without construction, you'd probably have the same experience as staying at Poly with construction.

I would switch to the Poly, but I love the Poly and I'm a little biased. I'm going around that time and I don't think the construction will be bad at that point. I'm keeping a check on the construction update thread.

When you say walls are going up...do you know where? Will we be walking to the pool or beach but have a big "wall" up somewhere taking away from the atmosphere?
