Need Day Trips from DL in April for Family

We are first timers to Disneyland. Spending 5 days at GCLV early April. DD's are 3, 6 and 9. Looking for suggested day trips in and around LA. Will have a rental car, but not familiar with distances and travel times to know how far we can go and what to see along the way. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Both Hollywood and San Diego are only an hour or hour and a half away ( depending on infamous LA traffic of course)
