We are in need of some new pots and pans - I would like something that works well with a smooth cooktop. I am not super concerned about price, but also don't think I need top of the line either. Any suggestions?

We decided we needed new cookware a few months back. I went to a pampered chef party for a friend. While there I fell in love with their cookware.

A couple of months later, I hosted a show and ended up getting about $1300 of cookware for less than $700. That was using hostess specials and discounts. DH does most of the cooking and he loves the new cookware as much as I do.

Check into them - but look for specials - they are a bit pricey if you aren't getting half price deals or hostess deals.

Pampered Chef- At one time (after xmas) they had a couple of sets on their website outlet and that is how I got mine, I love them and I will never go back to anyother cookware!

I got the entire Rachel Ray cookeware set at my bridal shower and I absolutely adore it. Even though the pots have rubber handles they are still oven safe so you can transfer from the stove to the oven! They are also super non-stick and I rayely have to even use cooking spray anymore. They come in cool shapes and colors too!

I have had my pots and pans for 40 years.....and I have my mother in laws which is 62 years...stainless steel is the way to go......good looking....easy to clean with any scrubber and lasts a lifetime.....you will have to leave them in your wills

I would say shop the sales - Kohl's especially if you have one near you. Look at what Costco or Sam's have to offer. All-Clad, Calphalon, a superior grade of Farberware or KitchenAid, etc. are all brands that I would recommend.

I love my Scan Pan - pricey but it has an excellent warranty.

I have the Emeril stainless steel set made by All-Clad and I love it. It cooks everything alot faster and more evenly. You have to cook on medium high though, don't put your pan on a high setting because it will be scorched in not time.

I love that the pots and pans can go in the oven and mine can go in the dishwasher(make sure you check the box if that is important) and they have a lifetime warranty because they are from All-Clad.

I have Analon, Calpholon and Pampered Chef and I prefer the Analon pans. They are all basically the same but the Analon handles don't get hot on the cooktop like the Calpholon and they can go in the oven up to 500°. They are all non-stick and that makes clean up a breeze.
