Our welcome home stay at Poly Island Tower during the July 4 week was extremely disappointing due to terrible management of the parking lot at the tower and the entire property being overrun by non-resort guests. I reached out to my guide who forwarded a detailed email I wrote to his boss. I have yet to get a reply and my wife and I are livid. Due to a number of reasons, we did not reach out to our guide until mid July. But this is still unacceptably too long.

Wondering if someone here has contact info for a higher up with DVC? That can be someone in member services, sales or overall DVC leadership. But we are done being patient.

Hopefully this is the correct forum but will crosspost to the Poly forum as well.

I do not have the contact information but if you wouldn't mind sharing, as a PVB owner, I would appreciate hearing what your issues were. We stayed for 1 night in June but have a full trip in a 1bdrm at Thanksgiving and want to set my expectations appropriately.

The parking lot at the tower seems to be too small. But on the night of July 3 (when there was the first night of July 4 fireworks), the gate was broken and they had security guard stationed there. I told the guard I was a guest and he let me right in. No scanning of Magicband or room key, no referencing to a list of registered guests. They let me right in based on my word.

It was pouring rain and the lot had no spots. I waited just about an hour. Security guard told me I had to park at TTC, the regular Poly lot was full too. Completely unacceptable to have no parking available for resort guests, obviously the regular Poly side let people park there who also had no business being there. Resort guests pay far too much for a 20 minute parking expedition at the TTC

Also, the resort was supposed to restrict non-guests from the beach areas for fireworks viewing but that clearly didn't happen as guests were given bracelets to wear and most people did not have them on.

None of these issues should apply to your Thanksgiving trip

Thank you for sharing. I would have been livid! The lot is very small and nobody but Tower guests should have access. What was the point of wristbands if they were going to allow so many people in. Thats just crazy. I am so sorry and more sorry you have yet to get a reply.

I was next door at the VGF over New Years Eve & thought at the time that they really need to make the in demand resorts guest only for the relevant hours on the couple of nights a year that they have special fireworks shows.
As for the Poly parking situation - that’s been going on forever w/ the main resort, so no surprise that management hasn’t solved it yet. IMO, they should direct folks w/ dinner ADRs & other visitors to park at the TTC & limit the parking to resort guests.

I had similar feelings about my xmas trip 2 years ago, In fact I just sold my only poly contract with the crowds that was the primary reason. But I love the longhouses and will stay there again in slower times of the year. I just ran into having to leave the resort to get food since I could not get in the TS or get food in a reasonable amount of time at Captian cooks. At the time the walkway to GF was closed so I really missed BW or RIV where you have more options. Even the monorail was usually a long line.

I think DVC will crack down with PIT in active sales, at least in PIT the tower is restricted to guests. I wish RIV would add the room key function in the elevators.

W/ Toppolinos on the 10th floor they can’t really make the elevators nearest the lobby exclusive to those staying at the Riviera.

Please contact Bill Diercksen. He is the executive in charge of DVC and is wonderful. William.c.diercksen@disney.com
Your issues at poly are ongoing issues that Disney has failed to adequately address. As a new dvc owner, your experience really matters and could be just what Disney needs to hear to motivate them to make changes. We agree with you 100% and have the same issues when we stay at poly— many other dvc resorts as well, unfortunately.

They could lock out the other floors on the elevator and only make 10th floor public access. I don’t know if that would help.

I wrote to DVC in May about the pool situation. Below is the email address I used and details of the person who replied.

Sounds like they operate the parking lots like they do the pools. Constantly allow non- resort guests to access both.

i was staying at grand then and although I didn't have to deal with parking (didn't have a car that trip) yes the resorts were over run with non-resort guests. I've never seen the line for the resort monorail at the ttc as long as it was on July 4.

I wonder if they brought back the Magic Express if this would alleviate some of the parking issues at all resorts.

How was the pool there?

You think people are renting cars and parking at the resorts so they don't have to pay $16/person for a Mears bus, or ~$40 per carload with an Uber, from MCO?

It could be people are renting cars, staying at Disney and going over to universal for day trips.

My family of 5 always used the Magic Express, after covid we now always rent a car. It is about the same price for a week long stay to rent a car compared to Mears Bus and Uber.

If the Magic Express came back we might consider going back to just using Disney Transportation for all park visits.

And yes, we have rented a car and gone to Universal twice now since the Magic Express went away.

You can rent a car for $160 a week?

It is usually around $500 to $600 for the week, when I checked Mears, it wasn't $160 for the trips to MCO it was more expensive. Plus you have account for the Uber rides for a week, so yes it comes close, plus we go to the grocery store at least twice a vacation.

Mears is $16 per person per way, so for a family of 5 you're looking at $160. If you need transportation outside of the Disney bubble to Universal or Publix that certainly shifts the math though. We live driving distance (about 8 hour drive) so we drive for week-long trips. For a trip that long it's nice to have a car, for sure.
