Need cheap motal ideas

My darling niece is taking her little sisters to Disneyland for a weekend in early November. She needs to do this on a shoe-string budget. I found admission tix from my union. How about some great deals for nice motels near Disneyland ?

How cheap is cheap? There are some motels in the Anaheim area that can be had for $29. They are older and not as well kept up and not with in walking distance. There are some that are with in walking distance but not recommended. If they don't need to be within walking distance and want a decent place they can try Priceline.

Don't have specific hotels but I went to hotwire.com (which is sort of like priceline but they tell you the best price they can get without telling you the hotel name until you commit.)

Anyway not sure about November but I checked Easter time (when I'm going) and they had a Luxury hotel for $55/nt and Upscale for $33/nt.

I've seen lots for people on this board recommend priceline. A friend of my takes the Hotwire price and drops it by 5 or 10 bucks over at priceline and then just goes back to Hotwire if it gets rejected.

Probably the least expensive closest place is the Park Vue Inn which can be had for $49-$69. It is very close to the cross walk over to Disneyland.

Some of the cheaper, closer places I've stayed in that I felt were clean and safe are Howard Johnson's (slightly further away, but nicer, more like a hotel, and still not too expensive), and Carousel Inn (right across the street from DL).

I've also heard from friends that Desert Inn & Suites is very convenient, clean, and roomy, plus they have (I think) refrigerators and microwaves, which might help to save some $$$ on food.

I would avoid Best Western Stovall's on Katella, we had lots of problems with things not being clean, as well as air conditioning leaks, etc. We really liked BW Park Place Inn, right across the DL entrance, but that one is probably close to $100.

I have to agree with LuvTigger about the Carousel Inn & Suites (and just look at your name, it's a given!). I have stayed there twice and loved it both times. The rooms are clean and perfect decor for young girls. Some of the rooms are white furniture with pastel carousel horses wall-papered and some rooms are a deep cherry with golden accents. I felt that it gave the place a more "expensive" feel. There is a pool on the rooftop. It's a bit on the small side but it's a great place to view the fireworks at night (if you don't want to be in the parks). Also there is a breakfast room that is just the cutest thing! It's located on the 7th or 8th floor and it overlooks DL so you can watch the monorail go by (lots of windows). It is only a couple of blocks from the main entrance and I always felt safe.

I had a bad experience at the BW Park Place Inn. I believe that housekeeping/maintenance/etc may have stolen something of mine. The manager on duty was not helpful in the situation and I felt was downright rude. The room was in poor condition and no offer was made to improve it. Usually I have very good luck with Best Westerns so that was definitely a disappointment!

I am not sure how cheap you are looking for but we
got the Hilton for $79 per night. This is a luxury hotel across the street from Dland.
there are shuttles every 1/2 hour....you could walk but I would stick to the shuttles.

Just returned from Marriott on Convention Way which I got on Priceline for 41 a night after all taxes, fees . Parking was 12 per day in addition and they had a shuttle every half hour. If she is not picky about a specific hotel that may work for her. I've done Priceline 3 times in this area and have never been disappointed with a 3 star bid!

Personally I think bidding on a 2.5 star hotel at Priceline is a much better idea! From the messages I've read, and my personal experience last week, 2.5 stars in the Disney area almost always gets you the Marriott Residence Inn. It's close to the park, has no parking fee, and all the rooms have full kitchens.

I'm going the first week in December and we got a rate of $32/night through Priceline! Can't wait!

From what I understand, the only Priceline/Hotwire Disneyland area 4* is the Hilton and Towers. When the 4* deals pop up, they should be well worth it. We just returned from the Westcoast Anaheim and for future reference I took a quick tour of the place while on my morning run. It's a beautiful hotel. The health club is huge with all sorts of equipment and classes. Judging from the autographs on the walls, this is where the visiting sports teams stay.

The shuttle service looked very consistent and does not share with any other hotels. It's about a 15 minute walk by either West or Harbor or 5 minutes to the Timon parking lot tram. There is a ice cream shop downstairs, around the corner from the health club , which serves Ben and Jerry's ice cream and Krispy Kreme donuts (though it wasn't open at 7AM - go figure). They serve Starbucks coffee there, though there is a large full Starbucks across the street at the Mariott.

We just did priceline for 4 stars and go the Westcoast Hotel (can't remember the exact name) for $40 a night. Haven't stayed there but from everything I've read I'm very excited. This was for the end of November for 3 nights.

Thanks for all the great ideas! She found something within walking distance in her price range (don't know where!) She's not very internet savvy - so that wasn't going to be the way for her to go, but I'll certainly keep that in mind. Do any of the Disneyland hotels ever show up on the Priceline, Expedia, HotWire deals? (That's what I'm looking for in January!)
