I have 5 small kids and want to find the best character meals. Don't want pre-plated for sit-down. Which provide the best character interaction and food for young kiddies? I have Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's already but not sure what else. Thanks!

My family really enjoyed 1900 Park Fare for breakfast buffet. We had good character interaction especially with Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter. The kids really enjoyed the mini-Mickey waffles.

Chef Mickey's is the best.

Garden Grill is served family style. It has Chip and Dale and a couple of other characters. Might be nice to be at the table and fill their plates. I believe that this is also the rotating restaurant. We haven't been there but just made a reservation this morning for it in July.

Hey there SunnyMom!

I'd have to say if you're looking for a buffet-style character meal I would certainly recommend breakfast at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club!:thumbsup2

We've gone there many times and are ALWAYS happy with it! I think that their breakfast buffet is the best overall buffet in Disney! Everything looks clean and tastes great!:goodvibes

The characters walk around and hit our table usually 3 times before we leave. The place is friendly and bright and for the most part the place is a heck of a lot quieter and more relaxing than Chef Mickey's!

I hope it helps!!!

Tusker House at Animal Kingdom is supposed to be very good with great character interaction. It's the only place to find the elusive Daisy.
Any princesses on board? We loved Akerhaus at Norway Pavilion in EPCOT. Saw Jasmine, Ariel, Cinderella, Aurora, and got a photo with Belle. L and D are pre-plated Norwegian meals with kids selections too. Breakfast is family style American fare.
At Hollywood and Vine, the Little Einsteins and Jojo and Goliath actually lead the children in song and dance (at DHS).
Character meals are my favorite part of the trip!

We have reservations at Cape May Cafe on May 12th and the only time that was available was at 10:25am. I am concerned that with this time being so close to the time that they stop serving will there still be a good selection of food at this time??? Also do the characters stop visiting with the children right at 11:00? Thanks!

We love the character meals for our kids. Here's my opinion on the few we've been at:

MK:

Crystal Palace - buffet, been here for breakfast and lunch, we really enjoyed both; Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore, good character interaction both times

CRT - breakfast, served family style, tasty meal with refills on anything you'd like; Cinderella in the lobby, Jasmine, Snow White and other princesses (can't remember who right now) stop by the table, all princesses were very nice

AK:

Tusker House, Donald's Safari Breakfast - buffet breakfast, delicious choices of food; Daisy, Donald, Goofy and Mickey, good character interaction, dance around the room w/Goofy in his musical parade, one of the loudest meals we've been to

HS:

Hollywood & Vine - buffet, we've been here for lunch, food was basic buffet, nothing memorable but good; Jo Jo, Goliath, Leo & June, characters were fun, they do a dance with Jo Jo and the kids in the middle of the restaurant, my kids enjoyed it

Epcot:

Akershus - sit down meal w/buffet, we've been here for breakfast and lunch, truely enjoyed both meals, breakfast a little bit more, they serve you your all you care to eat breakfast and you can visit the buffet for extras, lunch is a plated meal with the buffet extras; character interaction was WONDERFUL, we've seen Belle, Cinderella, Mulan, Jasmine, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel, photo package makes this meal even better

Resorts:

GF - 1900 Park Fare - buffet, dinner, food was ok, but character interaction was fabulous; saw Cindy, Prince, step-mother and sisters

Polynesian - 'Ohana - breakfast served family style, all you care to eat; son's favorite meal since he loves, loves, loves Stitch; saw Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto

We've enjoyed all our character meals and I can't wait to book more for our next trip in February!

Have fun choosing!

we have been to chef mickeys repeatedly for breakfast and dinner. great food and FABULOUS character interaction. we ALWAYS go back on every trip!

We have 5 kids, ages 7, 10, 12, 16, & 17, and have just returned from our first ever trip and we went to Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House! It was amazing! The food was a mixture for young and old, besides the hot selections there was also a nice selection of fruits, trailmixes, granolas, cereals, etc and danishes, doughnuts, muffins, etc- The food was terrific, the character interaction was Excellent as well as the service- Yes, a bit loud overall but I believe that was due to the dancing and maracca shaking the characters do with the kids for a bit... We absolutely loved it and plan to do again...
We will be trying Cape May's breakfast in July as well-

Chef Mickey's was great for Character Interaction and the picture but we did as a dinner and the food was "okay"- not as grand a selection as Golden Corral - We will try again as a breakfast though- We loved the experience there for characters- our service could have been better- (he, our server, was just a bit "dry" to say the least)-
Good Luck with choosing- there are too many choices but we seemed to have been satisfied with all- Tusker House gets a 5 thumbs up 100% from us overall though!
