I have a 10 month old DGS who is just transitioning out of his Graco baby seat to a convertible carseat. His parents have bought him a really nice Britax car seat and are thinking they'll get away with just the one car seat, but, I'm thinking they might want to get a 2nd carseat for the car he's not in as much, plus, it'll be one I can use when I take care of him. What is a good, safe carseat that doesn't cost as much as a Britax? It wouldn't be used for any long trips or anywhere near as much as his main carseat. This will probably end up being a 1st birthday present from me so I may surprise them with it.

i have an eddie bauer that i got on sale for $150 at target. it held 35lbs rear facing and up to 100 forward facing. it's also can be a booster when the time comes. my car is the main traveling car.

my mom and hubby bought safety first car seats. they're both as nice as mine and about the same price mine was. i find their buckles to be easier to un-do for some reason.

just do a little online research, you can find good deals if you look around. and pretty much all carseats are made alike these days.

Our backup car seat is a used Britax that I picked up at a consignment sale for about $50. It's still in great shape just not the latest model!
