DD is turning 10 this week

She is having a party with 4 of her friends on Saturday. She asked to have a "cupcake party."

The party is 3 hours, and we're going to start with lunch. Not exactly sure what we're doing yet - either pigs in a blanket or mini pizzas. Something the girls can do on their own.

Then I have a craft for them to make - ribbon bookmarks with cupcake charms. Super cute!

Then they'll be decorating cupcakes. They each will get a box to decorate as well, and they can take 4 cupcakes home with them.

We'll have them decorate extra cupcakes too, which they will eat at the party. :)

But I am thinking I should have a game too. Something simple, but fun, and which doesn't cost too much (since the point of having the home birthday party was to keep costs down).

Ideas for a game for a small group of 9 & 10 year old girls to play? I am fairly crafty, so I can whip something up if I have an idea to run with.

Happy 10th birthday to your daughter! Mine is turning 10 in June :)

How about a bingo game you could make with cupcake words like cupcake, batter, icing, sprinkles, candle, bake, vanilla, chocolate, ten, decorate, and use all the girls names in a square too:confused3

If you have a Wii I think a game like Just Dance would provide at least an hour of fun!

That's all I can think of for now. We are taking 2 girls to the Judy Moody movie and having a sleepover so I'm subscribing for our party. Your party sounds fabulous so far! Have a great time

What about "Minute to Win it" type games? I'm a Brownie troop leader (8-year-olds), and we played some yesterday at our meeting. The girls LOVED them! There are several you can do with very inexpensive items, like dollar store plastic cups, cotton balls, straws, M&Ms, balloons, etc. The show's Web site give instructions/ supplies for all the games, or you can PM me for more details about what we did.

Scavenger hunt for colored cupcake cards? Or cupcake ingredients? Since the girls are older, you can have riddles, etc. for the clues? Have fun! Sounds like a great party.

I second the idea of "Minute To Win It." I just ran a classroom party for 4th graders and they loved it. Go to the show's web page-lots of inexpensive ideas.

Sorry-forgot to add another idea. For my daughter's b-day one year, we have a large paved driveway. I sent the girls out with colored chalk and they took turns lying down and were traced on the pavement. Then each girl colored their own tracing in with their clothes and features then added fun drawings to it like soccer/beach balls, flowers etc.

Thank you for all of the ideas! I am going to talk with DD and see which ones she's interested in doing.

Blow up a bag of balloons and have ballon games....

tie one to a string and to an ankle...partner has to stomp on the balloon to pop it, etc.

balloon races, etc.

Kids have a ball and it costs under $2!

With a small group of all girls, maybe do their nails, Enlist the help of a teen neighbor if you need it. They may also want some down time to just hang and giggle. As long as all the girls are used to being together and get along well, I would give them some chill time!
