Ok I gave my DH a choice either we just celebrate my birthday on this trip or 3 weeks after being home from the world go back to celebrate (he didn't really go for that idea). So we have picked the day I want to celebrate my Birthday on while on this trip. Every year since I was little I have had snow on my birthday (except maybe 2yrs!). So which should I do??

Celebrate it the night we are doing MVMCP or another night and do 50's Prime Time Cafe and MGM to see the lights and snow there? I am going to make myself a birthday shirt and make sure I get the button while there. And since he isn't knowing what to do I told him I'd call and let our hotel know there is a birthday while there and for the reservation for 50's that there is a birthday.

Is there still a way to get those yummy cakes delivered to our room or resturant? I'm very excited and a big kid at heart and can't wait to finally get to celebrate my birthday there (even if we are doing it 3 weeks early). Heck I can't talk him into another trip that soon, oh well.

Any other tips would be great. This is mainly our first family trip (DH 26, Me 23, and DD 1) and my Dad and Stepmom hopefully coming with us too.

I have gotten DH hooked on planning this trip though with me and i already have 5 character meals planned and one ADR at Rose and Crown. We are there for 12days.

Any tips I'd greatly love!!

Birthdays are great in WDW! You will have soo much fun. I did not go to the MVMCP last year; however, whether you go to the party or MGM you will at some point be surrounded by fake snow (which is way better than real snow)! I will say that the Osbourne light show was absolutely breath taking! However, since it is your birthday I would recommend maybe eating at 50's Prime Time Cafe earlier and then going to MVMCP later on. That way you will not only get the birthday experience at the restaurant (which being 50's Prime Time I bet they will make a huge deal of it :thumbsup2 ) but you will also celebrate your b-day at a special disney event like the party. Since you are staying for 12 days (which is wonderful!!!) you will be able to get over to MGM and see the lights as many times as you wish anyway, so make your b-day as special as you can!

I've been to WDW many times during b-days so I know of many other great options but your choices sound really good to me. If you change plans and need other suggestions feel free to ask. Otherwise, good luck w/ your decision and have a magical birthday! :sunny:

And as for the cakes, my mom called ahead of time for my brother's b-day at 1900 Park Fare and ordered a cake. So you can try to call 50s prime time and see if they do it. Also sometimes Disney resorts will decorate your room for you if they know, but of course this would depend on where youre staying. For example, at AKL there are no balloons allowed b/c of the animals, so resorts will vary with how they are able to handle b-days.

DHs birthday is 11days before he flies down to meet DS & myself at AKL.
I spoke w/a CM yesterday and had his bday noted on LeCellier, Chef and Cape May brkfst
Told her his story from last year - how he had to fast on his birthday because the day after he had his left kidney removed due to cancer. He's coming up on 1 year cancer free and we're celebrating

:bday: :bday: :bday: :bday: :bday:

Thank you both for your tips.. I"m getting very excited even though it won't be my real B-day since it's not till Jan 8th, but I'm not going to make DH take me back on my actual day since we will be there for so long Nov/Dec.

Jambo!424 I might need some helpful tips though since we are taking MIL for her B-day in October 2007 so not really sure what to do for her and want part of it to be a surprise from us to her. She lost her husband 4months before I had my daughter her first and only grandchild. So I want to make her 55th very special for her since she's been through so much.

Newholidayx2- that is so sweet and great idea. Hope your Dh has a great birthday and glad to see he seems to be doing well.

I'm glad you posted this. I was sort of feeling weird about celebrating my and my son's birthdays on our upcoming trip because we won't be there the actual days. We just couldn't do a trip the ten days later that would have put us there on our birthdays. Now I know that other people celebrate their birthdays at the World even if it isn't exactly on the actual day. Should we each choose a day of our trip to call our "birthday"? Or should we just celebrate every day? :cheer2:

Have a magical trip!

I'm truly sorry to hear that, but I think it is wonderful that you plan on giving her an extra special birthday. I was trying to decide what she might like best given that it will be her 55th, and this is what I've come up with:

- If you are going towards the end of October celebrate her bday in MK at the MNSSHP. I hear this is lots of fun and like the MVMCP, it is a special event, which is perfect in making a bday extra magical. You can eat at Tony's Town Sq (which I've done myself a couple of time, lots of fun :) ). At Tony's if you let the hostess know about the bday the table will be decorated with Mickey sparkles. Then after you eat the waiter will announce the birthday, give her a special dessert, and make everyone in the restaurant swing their napkins around.

- Another wonderful idea would be to go to the Coral Reef. I recommend this place b/c of the experience my mom and I had there on our birthday. First of all, we were seated right next to the aquariam. Then we were absolutely shocked when scuba Mickey came swimming over to our table! Then, we were both given one of the most delicious desserts I've ever eaten in the park called the Chocolate Wave, which is kinda like a lava cake with melted white chocolate inside a chocolate cake (if I remember it correctly). We felt sooo special that night! If you want to do this definitely call ahead of time and tell them about the birthday, request to sit by aquariam, and maybe even see if scuba mickey would be available since its such a special occassion (just b/c I can't guarantee 100% that he's always there for those occassions).

- The next option I recommend is something my sister and I wanted to do for my mom but it was too expensive to try. However, you might find this to be well worth the money to make the night extra special. I'm not sure how your MIL feels about fireworks and light shows, but Illuminations in Epcot is really amazing and Wishes in MK is the best fireworks show I've ever seen! What you can do is book an hour on the lake (I think it can be done at Epcot for Illuminations or near MK for Wishes) and rent a boat to get VIP fireworks viewing. They have cruises specifically for birthdays so the boat will actually be decorated! Here is a link to more info: http://allearsnet.com/btp/illum.htm

- Or you can eat at Coral Reef earlier and then do the Illuminations cruise, do all in one night for a night full of surprises (this will be quite expensive though)

- Ohanas is also a great place to eat (the steak is soooo good). Take her there, request to sit by the window and watch the fireworks, but let the fireworks be a surprise! They gave my mom and I really good cupcakes here when we went for bday by the way.

- Finally, you could take her to the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show, which sounds like a lot of fun. We're trying that on the 25th for my mom's bday. She loves Hawaii and can't wait to watch the dancers and everthing. Reviews of this have been mixed but when I get back I'll let you know what I think.

This post is getting really long, but I hope its helped! There are many more things to do so here's a link for other suggestions: http://allearsnet.com/pl/bdayad.htm

If I think of anything else I'll post again. If there are any more questions ask away :goodvibes !

You have to call ahead to order a cake, with a character on your choice, or you can get a b-day bucket, with a small cake and a stuffed Mickey and a pin, the bucket makes a good souvenir too. I got the Mickey bucket, but you can get other types, like a Princess one. Great for kids or adults who like things like that.

I am celebrating my birthday at Chef Mickeys and we ordered a cake $12 I think. The reason for that place is we are going to MNSSHP and we are taking our 2 nieces.

In Dec we are celebrating our 10 year anniversary at Le Cellier, 1900 Park Fare and Mama Melrose and we will have a cake each night too.....I know who the heck is going to eat it but as I told DH...I WANT IT ha ha...we will bring leftovers back to the room
