Are you looking for an idea of an activity at WDW or in the NY area?

At WDW, I'd consider a day at one of the water parks or a visit to DisneyQuest and the Lego store at DTD.

In NYC, we took DS to see Blue Man Group off-Broadway for his 6th birthday. It wasn't cheap, but he LOVED it... very appropriate for boys... rock and roll music, Blue Men throwing marshmallows into each others' mouths, audience pulling tissue paper over their heads until the whole pit is full of paper. Everyone had a great time at BMG... really, the older people behind us (grandparents who'd brought their grandsons) had as good a time (though it was more raucous than they expected) as everyone else around us.

Other good ideas in the NYC area are the Natural History Museum (dinosaurs) and the Bronx Zoo.

ETA: I've never been, but the Bubble Show (can't remember the exact name) in NYC is also supposed to be great for kids.
