need ap info

i know ap is good for one year.but,if i buy it now from disney over the phone and go in nov.does it expire a year from when it was bought or a year from when i turn in the voucher for the pass and can i book a room at a ap discount before i turn in the voucher? any info wold be great thanks

An AP is good for a year from when you activate it. The exception is the renewal which renews when ever your old pass expired.
You do not need to already have an AP when you make room reservations, but you do need one at time of check in.

Correct me if I am wrong, going from memory and sometimes things change...

Actually, you only need the voucher when you check in, the AP does not have to be activated.
I know the "official" statement is an "activated AP"; however, we just got back from WDW and checked in with only the vouchers, which the CM said was perfectly acceptable. That way, you can check in, unload and get comfortable before heading for the parks.
So, book your room and just make sure to have the voucher with you at check-in.
And as Haley stated, it expires one year from the date of activation, not purchase (unless they are the same date).
