Ok guys... need some reccomendations.

We have 1 meal left that we can book for our ADR. We plan to have dinner on the first day we arrive. Here is what we have booked so far... so based on that, is there a place that you would say you must go to?? I would like it kid friendly, but doesnt havent to be character meal. We will have a car the first 2 days so we can go anywhere.

We already booked:

Friday- travel day... need dinner somewhere
Saturday - Akershus Princess Storybook - breakfast
Sunday- Tusker House - breakfast
Monday- nothing- having a "resort" day
Tuesday- Cinderella's Royal table - dinner ( also reserved the bibbidi bobbidi botique for that morning)
wednesday- Crystal Palace- dinner
Thurs- travel day

I just asked DS8 if he could only eat at one restaurant at Disney what would it be??? He said Chef Mickey's. So, I guess I'd recommend that.

Via Napoli in Epcot comes to mind since most kids love pizza!

Our 3 must-dos every trip are Chef Mickey's, CRT, and Crystal Palace. We also really enjoy 1900 Park Fare for dinner, although I see that you already have the princess thing covered. ;) It is good food though, and the stepsisters are hilarious.

Are you going to a park on your arrival day? If you are, it's probably a short day for you and you won't want to leave the park to eat - in fact, you might want to just plan on CS that day unless you are specifically trying to burn a TS credit on the DDP. If so, let us know which park you're going to.

Otherwise, assuming you need a resort dinner, tell us more about the party size/ages and tastes! Since all your other ADRs are character meals I'm assuming younger kids are involved. If so, the best way to start a Disney vacation is with the Mouse himself at Chef Mickey's. If there are teens, though, maybe they'd prefer something a little more adult like Planet Hollywood (which would also let you use up the voucher you get for food there with many of the resort packages, and sets you up for the first evening in Downtown Disney). Having a car will take care of the transport issues.

Or do something more unique like dinner at Boma (again, having a car negates any distance problems), using the opportunity to view the animals and even participate in some of the evening activities there (using night goggles to see the animals; story time by the fire pit). Or go over to Fort Wilderness. Two good options there, again depending on ages/tastes: HDDR dinner+show, or go to the Trails End buffet for dinner followed by campfire and a movie outdoors, weather permitting.

Thanks for your opinions!

A little more info...

We do not have air fare booked, but if all goes according to plan, we should land in disney by 1 pm. Get the rental, head to a grocery store, check in and then do dinner.

We do have a 5 day park hopper, but thinking of dropping it down to 4 or leaving it as a 5 day as on Monday we planned to have a resport day, but if we can do Wishes dessert party will want to do that, or maybe just have the option of going to a park if need be.

So with that said, I guess I would prefer someplace NOT in a park. It will be me, dh, dd who will be 4.5 and a 2 month old. We are open to it not being character or super kid friendly, but want to start the trip off fun and right.

This is our first time, so I just have no idea.

With all those character meals, I'd go with something more for the adults. Kona, maybe, or California Grill (if you aren't on the dining plan and credits aren't an issue).

We like to start our trips with a nice dinner and watching Wishes from one of the MK area resorts, it just gets the Disney spirit going without trying to do a park when we're all tired from traveling.

to me, you need a dinner at Epcot. No vacation is complete without a dinner t world showcase

I would go Teppan Edo although Via Napoli is getting good reviews

other choices would be Tutto Italia, Biergarten or San Angel Inn

A 4.5 yr old.....and the first trip for all of you......:thumbsup2

Your first dinner has got to be at Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary. You get a big, noisy, fun buffet that should suit all food tastes. You get the Fab 5 for photos and character interaction.

If you want to do some "rides" before or after dinner, leave your car in the Contemporary parking lot and take a loop ride around on the monorail. Or take the small launch from the Contemporary dock to the MK dock, then the big Ferry back across the lake to the TTC, then the resort line monorail around to the Contemporary again. All without using a park admission. You'll have a great time!

Although your plan is very heavy on character meals, I would do Chef Mickey's on your first day. It is a really magical way to start a trip. I would also drop one of your remaining character meals and book a regular meal in it's place. IMO you have way too much of a good thing and the "specialness" of the character meals will wear off for your DD pretty quick. I would get rid of one of your breakfasts. Unless your DD is a big fan of a princess other than Cindy, I would drop the Princess Breakfast. It is the weakest of the meals plus I think it takes away from the dinner in the castle. The other reason I suggested getting rid of a breakfast is because eating a long breakfast takes away precious morning time from park touring.

FWIW, almost all WDW restaurants are very child friendly. I would replace one of those breakfasts with dinner somewhere fun like 'Ohana, Whispering Canyon, Sci-Fi Dine In or Boma (not really fun, but you can visit the animals at the resort).

We love to eat at VWL. They have two great restaurants there ... one that is really kid friendly called Whispering Canyons and the other a little more fancy which is Artist Point. The food is great at both in my opinion. Have fun!
