I am doing a "Sharing Activity" for a second grade class and I need to find something fun and unique.

I will give the class the information on Monday and on Friday they bring it in and share it with the class. Some that I have seen done so far include:

Students get 2 marshmallows, create a snowman at home, on their own or with a family member.

Share their goals for 2003.

Make "What if" questions- What if the TV watched you? What if it rained up instead of down?

They created snakes when reading "Jimmy's Boa Ate The Wash"

Apple heads for Johnny Appleseed.

It is due for the end of February. I would like to base it around a book if possible.

Any ideas?????? Thanks!

How about tracing their bodies, and reading the book "My Many Colored Days" by Dr Suess (I think that's the title). They can take the bodies home and decorate them with things that are different colored. Or read them "A very Hungry Caterpillar" and let them make up a book about what they would eat.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but..............

Last year my son, who was in 2nd grade did a time line about themselves. He had pictures of his birth, 1st b-day, 2nd b-day ......, first day of school, first hair cut, etc. I'm sure you get the idea.

We had alot of fun putting it together and I got to reminisce.

He had about two weeks to complete and his teacher sent home instructions.

At school they all shared their time line and gave a brief summary.

The grade 2's at my school just did a cool 'Dot Man' project. they are studying geometry, so they consructed little 'men' made of dots. The is one dot at each joint in the body, then they connect the dots to make the man. When that was finished, the wrote a 'Dot Man' poem at home. The two things were put together and are now on display in the front lobby.

One poem went something like 'Dot Man, Dot Man likes to plant, but all he gets are silly ants'

Cool!!!! These are such great ideas!! Thanks!
