i hate slugs and have been known to dispatch them with salt. I've also set out containers of beer so they crawl in get drunk and drown.

OK, why am I googling "slug salt" at 7:50am....and reading the results.EWWWWWW, don't think I can get this out of my mind today now. Thanks. ;)

SplshMtn99 - that made me laugh out loud. The weird things we'll do sometimes using the internet that we would have never have done 10 years ago. But you know what they say - knowledge IS power.

How do you get rid of them when they are outside? We get them on our front porch all the time. I would need a remedy that will not harm animals. I agree wholeheartedly..... they are GROSS!!!!!

Nasty looking things aren't they? They look like boogers. I'm not scared of them, in fact when I was a kid we would play with them (I know, gross) We would race them. :sad2: Anyway, I hope you don't find anymore.

You are gonna have to psyche yourself up for this task...breathe in, breathe out...you can DO THIS!!!

Take about 4 gazillion paper towels and grab it off the wall as quickly as possible (lots of paper towel layers will keep you from actually feeling the slimy vermin when you grab it)...then run as fast as you can to the nearest door and throw it out as far as you can paper towels and all, making sure to close the door quickly, just on the off chance that this particular slug can run back to attack you. (no need to take unnecessary chances with this) Then lock the door immediately. Then jump up and down to shake off all of the heebie-jeebie vibes this nasty creature gave you. It helps if you give out a little "bbbrrrrrr---eewwwww" at the same time.

I would also recommend locking all of the other doors and windows too. You never know if they can open doors or windows...I mean, how did it get in in the first place?

OMG, this was so darn funny it deserves a re-post!

:crazy2: I'm pretty sure I'm gonna throw up now.

I used to think it was only worms and crunchy bugs and crawly things with 9 million legs that had this effect on me. Oh, and, obviously, fish. Apparently it's slugs too.

:guilty:

It wasn't the link that made me want to throw up (it was reading the rest of the thread, including the advice for removal of said slug), but lemme warn ya...clicking on the link didn't help!!

SAVE YOURSELF!!!

I had a slug in my living room once too...but then I decided to divorce him...

(sorry, I just couldn't resist... ;)

O...M...G... :lmao: :lmao:

This whole thread had me :rotfl:

I didn't even think about the tagfairieness of those comments - not sure if I want to be known as the "slug" poster or not. :rotfl:

Thanks so much daannzzz - you actually had me going thinking there were "pretty" slugs out there....now my fear is renewed.

Shannon G - that was hilarious! :lmao:

I will preface too that's it's not so much the looks of the slug that REALLY gets me (although I fail to see any kind of positive to say about their appearance) it's their "squishiness" and the size of them that really gets me.

I'm not too good with mice either...luckily we haven't had any experiences with them in our house yet. However, I grew up in a 1890's Victorian house that had mice all winter long and there were cabinets I downright refused to open because of the chance that one would be there....either alive to jump out at me (I have an active imagination) or caught in the trap. Either way freaks me out.

We have a slug that comes out on our walkway once in a while at night. I wanted to pour salt on it, but DH wouldn't let me. We have done that once though and it does work-- if you see any more.

:lmao:Thank goodness... they don't get drunk, lol!!! We wouldn't want any drunken slugs roaming around if by chance they didn't drown!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

I know, I was laughing at this too. I like how the point was made to reassure the reader that they wouldn't get drunk. They'd just die. Too funny.

In person, do slugs look the same as tomato bugs? Or are they the same thing? I remember seeing one of these once...it was huge and green without the fuzz of a catepillar. Gross!
