Need Airport advice

I found some great fares ($39 on Southwest or JetBlue) from Sacramento and want to know the easiest airports to fly into. Unfortunately, the cheap fares are not available at Orange County airport, so that's out. We can fly into LAX, Ontario or Burbank on Southwest or Long Beach on Jet Blue. We'd be arriving between 7p and 9p on a Thursday night and family would be picking us up and taking us to Anaheim (not sure yet where we are staying). We'd be driving back, so it's just the one-way flight. What airport is the easiest/closest?

Long Beach is probably your best bet. You can check on mapquest about the distance, but, depending on the time of day you land, LAX can be a traffic nightmare. I think Ontario is north of LA, so that would make it even longer.

Supershuttle has a really good Disneyland rate. It's only $16 each way, plus tip, for the van from LAX. I'm not sure how much it would be from Long Beach (or whether Supershuttle even runs out of Long Beach).

Of your choices I would definitely go with Long Beach. While not the closest, it is closer than LAX. Also being a small airport I find it easier to get out of so you can get on the road. :cool1:

Sadly no help with transport from there. We are renting a car. Do know that there are shuttles you can get but I think you may want to pre-arrange them. Have a great trip!!

Ontario is east of LA, NE of Disneyland. It is just east of Pomona, along I-10. It's about 45 minutes, an hour with traffic from Disneyland.

By comparison, Long Beach is about 30 minutes, LAX is 40 minutes (1 hr 10 min with traffic). Burbank is 50 minutes (2 hr 30 min with traffic), and north of LA. All these times are from Google Maps.

For me, it would depend on where the family who is picking you up lives. They may live closer to one of those airports, or have a preferred airport.

Are you flying before Aug 1? There don't seem to be any sale fares into SNA this summer :guilty: until after Aug 1. I'm having the same trouble! There was a Ding fare on SW yesterday, but I need July 25 so it didn't work for me since it was only good for Aug. I'm trying to get dh down to Newport Beach to join us but none of the good deals are applicable then. Kind of hate to spend $80+ bucks for a one-way flight from Sac. if I don't have to. I'm considering Long Beach, as it's supposed to be a really easy airport to fly into and about the same distance from DLR as SNA. Unfortunately, it's quite a bit farther from Newport Beach than SNA, so I'll probably just go ahead and pay the $30-40 difference.

LGB for sure. We love this airport. It is small and very retro, easy to get in and out of. It is about 25 minutes to DL. I would always choose this airport if I had the chance.

I would do whatever is the cheapest. They are all in the general area. While SNA is nice and close, the others and not super far away. And if you never rent a car like me, I am sure you can still find ways out to anaheim.

Thanks for the advice. I'd be flying down with a friend on a Thursday night. Her husband and kids are driving down the day before. They are going to Blizzcon. We don't want to drive down with them because it would involve taking too many days off work. So, we were going to fly down on Thursday night, and since they'd already be there (Anaheim), they would just pick us up. Then, we would all drive back to Sacramento on Sunday. With the cheap fares, it's worth it to us to do the one-way flight.

It looks like JetBlue to Long Beach is probably our best option. Thanks for all of the input.
