We are going to WDW next February, and want to stay at a moderate resort. We would like to try something new, and that leaves us with CBR. Is this a nice resort? I am worried that it seems so spread out. It will be me, DH, and DD's (11 and 4).

Which area should we request? How are the buses? There seems to be alot of stops.

Any information you could give me (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!:)

Cindy

We stayed in Jamaica, building 45. Its the first bus stop, which is handy on the few occasions where we ride the bus (we prefer to use a rental car most of the time). Its also directly accross the bridge from the shops and restauants, only about a 5 minute walk.

The last time we were there was before the rahab. Back then it had a bit of a reputation for being run down, but we had no problem with it. These days I don't see people complaining about that anymore. We thoroughly enjoyed this resort and plan to return.

Im stayin at CBR in may when i go..so far all i have heard was good things about it...so not sure, but im going anywayas :)

DH and I loved CBR. We stayed in Trinidad North, building 30 or 31, I think. We were really close to the food court and main pool, but our room felt very secluded. I love the tropical theming! It's like you get a trip to WDW and the Caribbean. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that CBR has the biggest rooms of any moderate. We had tons of room and I'm not what you would call a light packer! Shutters is very good - I was sort of surprised. I think you'll really enjoy CBR. We are going to AKL over Spring Break and I'm a little sad that we won't have a few nights to stay at CBR.

It's a beautiful resort, very laid back. My advice if you can afford one is to rent a car. We wasted too much time waiting for the bus and waiting to pick up the others before heading out to the parks. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again, I don't think. I think this resort don't like me. First time we stayed, we had a problem. The second time we stayed, still we had a problem.

Martinque is the section you should request so you can be close to the food court and the pool. Otherwise, it may be a hike, but I hear that Jamaica isn't that far either if you just cross the bridge. Do rent a surrey bike and enjoy the scenery. It is lovely to look at. Their pool is nice. I don't remember where the jaccuci is at cause when we went it was horribly busy that we just ended up staying at the kiddie pool which my kids enjoyed very much. This is one of the best kiddie pool in my opinion, it's not too shallow like some places. At least this one goes up to your knees and it has 2 shooting water from the posts. Neat.

Enjoy your stay. Have fun!

For information on CBR I suggest you read through the thread below. It contains lots of great information and trip reports.

It is a beautiful resort.

I've stayed at CBR twice and absolutely LOVE this resort :sunny: The grounds are beautiful, the main pool is a lot of fun (plus there is a quiet pool in each "village"), the food court is fun and looks like an outdoor market, and I hear the new sit down restaurant is nice.

I suggest staying in either Martinique or Trinidad North, HOWEVER they now charge an extra $15 per night for 2 villages because they are considered "preferred" areas of the resort. If you don't want to pay the extra, then I suggest requesting Jamaica, which is right across the lake from Old Port Royale, and a nice stroll across the bridge and island in the center of the lake.

We had excellent bus service both times we were there, and felt no need for a rental car, but that is definitely a matter of preference.

I have several pictures and more comments on my on web site. Click the link in my signature (below) and then be sure to go to both CBR pages on my site. The first one is under the heading of "May 2001" then click on the large CBR icon for pictures and info from my Feb 2002 stay.

Enjoy!! :sunny:

We too, are going this May and staying at CBR. Due to DD's disabilities we are guaranteed accessible, connecting rooms. WE will have a car and requested Trinidad South for the quiet but they told us the only section with accessible rooms left was Martinique. They have waved the $15 extra cost per night but.... I know you will probably think I'm crazy to say this..... we don't want to stay that close to the main section! Hoping to change sections when we get there. We just need a quiet pool and a playground close by!
Really looking forward to it though! :o)

Thank you everyone, I feel much better about trying this resort. My main worry was the buses. Do they get very crowded, or does Disney have several buses going at once?

SeaSpray and safetymom, thank you for the links to the pictures and information! They were really helpful.:)

I think we will choose from either Jamaica or Martinque. Not sure which one I will choose yet.

Thanks again!!

Cindy
