I should have asked before but the Holidays got me.

I have 2 contracts April 250 and October 300.
I want to start making reservations for 11/24/2004 in the morning for a 2 bedroom 312 points (definate) and a studio 119 points ( may need to cancel later in the year).
What would be the best way to make the reservations in order not to lose any points in case of an emergency ?

Your thoughts please !!!

IMHO, you should definitely use your October use year to book the November studio that is questionable.... that way, if you use your October points & do cancel, you still have 11 months to use them or bank them....

If you used your April points, you'd only have four months to use those points if you had to cancel the studio....

Will they let me use some of the October points to finish out that reservation? Will it be 1 reservation using the April points and some October or will it be 2 seperate reservations.
I have never attempted to combine points on 1 reservation and do not know the rules or what to ask.

This reminds me of those math problems on the SAT.


Use the April 250 and October 62 to reserve your 2 bedroom. I am assuming all your points are at BCV and are linked by your SS# or member #. If so this reservation should be seamless as MS can pull both your contracts and draw from both contracts to make one reservation. Just ensure MS is able to see both contracts when making ressie.
Do you have the same member number for both contracts?

I agree with Chris,
Use the October 119 for the studio. That leaves 119 balance for Oct. UY.

If you need to cancel the 2 bdr. you will be able to bank 50% of your April UY points and 100% of the Oct UY points. (which you stated as definate)

If you need to cancel the studio, this will allow you to cancel the studio and still be within your Oct UY 100% banking window.

It will be all one reservation- made using two contracts. You will get one confirmation for the entire stay. We do this for most of our trips and it works fine. Just tell MS that you want to make the reservation using 2 different contracts... or else they'll suggest borrowing from the April contract (...and even that would work out all right for you except it does put a strain on using the points if you cancel the studio).

Tell them you'll use 2 contracts and let them do the rest.

This is why I will only add-on contracts with the same use year that I already have. I have as much luck juggling these use year things as I did with the train questions.
