ok, never stayed at a deluxe.... have done POFQ, CBR and POP.....
CBR not my cup of tee.... POFQ too long ago to really remember.....
POP my daughter really enjoyed ( still was probably 7 years ago )
With that said, pricing out room discount and adding on tickets and dining plan.... WL is only $1000 more for 7 nights than the POP. Is it worth it? My daughter is 17 so I dont need any of the extra activity stuff that is available there. Just the thought of a deluxe not being triple my initial cost in itself is inticing but, since minimal time is spent in the room???? THe other option is POR which is $400 more than POP so confused.......

Both POR & WL are favs with us. Either one is great. I love the mansion section of POR. The landscaping is beautiful, walking along the river paths, so peaceful. Great food court, fun evening entertainment in the lounge. Boat to DTD.

WL is spectacular walking into that lobby is a wow moment. I like how everything is all under one roof, so if it's rainy you can just take an elevator down to the restaurants or CS- Roaring Forks. We usually grab something for breakfast before heading out. Also handy for mug refills.
Love the boat to MK, and also the resort boat that loops around to CR & FW. Very handy getting to MK resorts for ADRs.

I also like having a coffee pot & fridge in the room. It's an added convenience.

If you are unsure about spending the extra money on a deluxe, try out POR.

Staying at either POR or WL, you may find you want to spend some time just enjoying your resort. We don't commando tour and enjoy a mid day break, to go back to our resort for a swim, and enjoy some of the amenities at our resort.

I would go with the Wilderness Lodge because of the fact their rooms, restaurant options, stores and etc are located in one main building, so that means not having to walk outside like at Pop Century or Port Orleans Riverside. Plus with the Wilderness Lodge being a Deluxe Resort their rooms are bigger then the Value Resorts and Moderate Resorts.

I'm biased...we've done over 10 stays at WL, and won't even consider a different resort.....in the 45 trips to WDW, we've done almost all the deluxes and heve returned to WL the most.....it's like ouur home....the resort is located in such a serene setting, away from the maddening crowds....hardly any day people venture there since it's kind of hard to get to....they all prefer smoozing the monorail resorts which tend to make them crowded....

As said, it's all under one roof, very compact with the pool in the center....nice boat ride to the MK, FW and CR....great dining and best of all, for us....location...really enjoy being on the lakes....close to the MK....can't go wrong but it's your money...we're the type that actually enjoys the resort as much as the parks.....it's more than just a sleeping place...it's home for a week and longer and we enjoy the comfort the WL offers....

We've never stayed at Pop or POR, but we LOVE the WL :). $1000 is alot of money, but I think it's worth it to be close to MK as well as just a boat ride away from the CR where you can hop on the monorail to shop, dine, or just visit the Poly and GF :goodvibes. Plus the rooms at the WL are bigger and everything is under one roof. Good luck deciding, but IMO, it's definitely worth the extra cost :wizard:.

Room sizes to help

We love POR. Have never stayed at WL or even gone farther than the front of their resort so I cannot really compare the 2 for you. There is not much difference in the room sizes according the chart that I linked above. Not sure I would spend the extra just for the room size. But take a look at the link provided and see which appeals to you and your daughter the most and go by that. We hope to check out the WL this trip.

Here are 2 more links to help with your decision.

I would choose POR. I like the boat to DTD, Yeehaw Bob, two fun pools, and two food courts. (Don't care for Boatwrights, though.)

Have a great trip whichever you choose.

:)

Take a look at the swan dolphin. Book directly from the starwoods website, not through wdw website. I think this is the best value as far as deluxe hotels go. You will be surprised at how reasonable the price is.
