Okay, I am on the girl's basketball team at school. I love basketball I think it's so fun but I admit I am not very good at it. No one on the team is. We have been losing all our games the scores have been 2-29,2-38,2-42. Durning most of the games the longest I get to play is about 12 minutes which is about two quaters. During the last game, the only chance when I got the ball was in the last 10 seconds. We were behind by 40 and I accidently dropped the ball, and it rolled past the out of bounds line. After the game, everyone yelled at me, and one girl even hit me in the head with the basketball. I was crying, but I thought even if I didn't drop the ball, we would have still lost. Right before we got on the bus, I decided to quit to the team, I haven't told my coach yet tho. I just kinda kept it to myself. But since there is 6 of us, and only 5 girls can go in at a time, if I quit the team than there will be no more basketball team for the girls anymore, because once someone gets tired no one can go in and sub for them. I don't know what to do. Should I quit? I mean my teammates really hurt my feelings.

Well, if you love it, then don't let them ruin that for you. Don't quit something you love, for some people who are rude. Everyone makes mistakes. If one of them made that mistake, then they would want support. So, if I were you, I wouldn't quit the team.

Hope this helps.

i think the person posting before i did is right, if you really love the game you should stick with it, i do think tho that if you have a team that doesnt support you you should find a team that does, because support is very important in a game like that. it makes you wanna give it your all, if you would have the right support that is. but the best advice i could give you is try and stick with it untill you find a better team and if you see that things arent changing and that they still dont support you then quit dont give up so soon.

Ok I had a situation to this just recently i was playing volley ball since all my friends were playing it and they wanted me to with and i was put on the C-team because I suck well all the girls on the C-team quit except for a few girls I hated it so much and then my best friend who was on the C-team got moved up to JV and I was the only 8th grader left and I knew I suck I said i was going to quit but my parents wouldnt let me and told me to suck it up so i did about 2 weeks before the ending of the season i got extremely sick but still went to practices so i could play in the weeks big game i sucked it up to the point where i got even more sick and wasnt able to play in the big game due to it hurt to breath, i was coughing and sick and all it even made it worse that week that a teacher announced to his whole class i suck i really think you should stick with like i did in the end your team will thank you becuase they got to play i dont think they relize what would happen if you left and just remember that maybe just flat out tell them if you dont respect we all have different playing skills i mine as well quit and the season can be done that may show them that they really do need you to make this season happen

Well, first of all, the girls were being extremely dumb for yelling at you,and had no right to physically harm you, since losing the game was not your fault. And I agree with above posters, don't quit if you love the sport. Also, if the girls keep bothering you about the loss, tell them that it was not your fault and that there was no way that you guys could have made up 40 points in 10 seconds. Sorry though, that's why I don't like playing sports. Good luck!

The girls that yelled at you where really out of line. I'd talk to them or a coach to get things straightend out. But I don't think quiting is the right way out. Talk to the girls or the coach about it, because they where WRONG, it wasn't your fault. Accidents and mistakes happen on a team and that's just how it is.

I play basketball too. I'm a sophomore in high school and have been playing for 6 years now (2 years of high school). I'm by no means the best, but I'm not horrible either. I love the game and normally have fun playing. But I know how you feel. I hardly played this year (we just finished our season). The only time I did play was when 3 of our girls were hurt. First, thats totally rude of the other teams to run the score that much. My school's program will only go up 25 before we start stalling and passing the ball around, especially when we are at their gym or its a conference game. Thats just plain rude to run the score that high. Sorry that happened to you. Second, I know people are saying if you love it stay, but I feel sometimes that is not the best option. The coachs made multiple girls hate the game and now, with having to play varsity next year, a good amount of us will not be returning. It's not that we don't love it, but we stopped enjoying it; that became mentally and physically taxing on us. So if you stopped enjoying it, don't put yourself through that. There are other places to play, try your park district. For me, park district leagues have been more fun baised (at least where I live). Third, don't take your teammates yelling at you over the game, you did nothing wrong. Stick up for yourself. If you feel the need to, talk to your coach about it.
Finally, remember, its your decision to quit or not. Basketball should be about having fun!
