I am going on the Western 1/31 and traveling with my 5 yr. old and 1 year old sons. Can anyone give me some advice on excersions or possibly some free beaches if the excersions aren't appropriate for my little guys? Kayaks and snorkeling won't work. Any suggestions?

I have done the Western with a 2 year old (back in October.)

We did not do a lot of excursions, and did use Flounders for some R&R adult time...but you could take him on either of the semi-sub excursions (Grand Cayman or Cozumel) to see the fish underwater (and stay dry.) You can take him to the beaches with no problems also. In Key West there is the aquarium. We did the trolly also with my son (but it was SO HOT!) There really aren't any beaches at Key West.

Please feel free to email me or PM me if you have any specific questions you would like answered.

Are we able to go out on shore excursions and leave our kids at flounders reef?

I have a 2 1/2 year old and booked the a.m. excursions so we can leave him at the daycare and hope to pick him up after snorkeling and take him back out to enjoy the beaches.

Does this sound like too much running around???

Sorry, this is our first cruise and also am worried about entertaining our little one.

We just returned from the 1/3/04 Western cruise with an almost 3 year old. Other than being extremely sad to be home, we had a great time. We did not do any excursions through Disney. They are way over priced. In Key West we stayed on the ship most of the day and swam in the not so crowded pools. About an hour before sunset we got off the ship and walked to Mallory Square to watch the performers, shop and witness the most spectacular sunset. It was the perfect thing to do with our daughter, she was mesmerized by the performers (jugglers, acrobats, tightrope walkers, fire eaters and a one man band). Prior to sailing I had booked a swim with the stingrays through Captain Marvin's for Grand Cayman. You can find them on the internet. After you leave the ship you walk about two blocks to their offices where they load you up on air conditioned buses and take you to the boats. The two best things about Captain Marvin's is that they are reasonably priced, we paid $84 for a two hour trip (for 2 adults, 1 child and the 2 yr old was free) and the 2 yr. old was able to come with us. She actually got in the water for a few minutes and watched the stingrays from a distance. Disney will not take a 2 yr old on this type of excursion. In Cozumel we got off the ship, hailed a taxi and went to Mr. Sancho's beach club. Admittance was free, for $10 I got 2 loungers, 2 floats and an umbrella for the day. They also have a trampoline in the water that the kids can use all day for $4 each. They have a decent bathroom with showers, a restaurant, bar and shops. One word of advice, do not get your hair braided at this beach. They charged me $35 for a half of a head braiding and did a poor job. The braids were way to big and they began coming undone within an hour. I actually took her braids out at the airport because they were looked so bad.
