I have 2 days of non-expiration park hopper passes for me and my daughter. I also have $356 in Disney Rewards that will start expiring in January. I want to stay in a moderate resort, probably POR FQ. I will just have to pay for airfare and expenses. I will stay for two days, possibly three. I see that if I go during the week most days in January, I will only have to pay $159 a night. I also have read that in Feb there is up to 30% most resorts. Am I better off going in January or will I get a better rate if I go in Feb and book a mod with the 25% off? Thank you. I'm going to make a reservation soon so I am trying to learn how I can optimize my savings.

The best thing to do is to go to Disney's website and run the numbers. It looks to me like January will be cheaper than February with a discount, but I don't know your exact travel dates, and that can make a difference. The discounts are listed under "Special Offers".

You can also convert your reward points onto a disney gift card, which does not expire

I did not realize the card has no expiration. I always put off calling to find out more about the rewards card cause I was afraid to find out that it too had an expiration date. I regret that because last night I paid an extra $10 to have the card rushed to me so I could get it in time to use in time for my trip in January. I just booked my trip for four nights Jan 17-20 for $159 a night. Added one day park hopper so that I could then add the dining plan. Looking forward to my trip!!

I didn't realize the Gift Card didn't expire either?
I got one in 2009 for our trip and it said on it that it expired Dec. 2010.
It also said to keep hold of it until then so if I needed to move points again it would go to that.
Did they change it?
I don't have any expiring until 2014 and will definitely be heading back to Disney before then! :)

Just my experience! :)

You can also wait until you actually get to Disney too instead of having a card rushed to you. We always te one in the parks at guest services and then just call to have our points added.

You transfer you reward points to a REWARDS card. The rewards card DOES have an expiration date for Dec. of the following year, BUT you may use your REWARDS card to purchase a GIFT card. GIFT cards do not expire.
