I need advice!! We are currently booked for 10 nights Aug. 15 - 24. DH is not excited about going in the heat of August, but only time that will work with school. Until I ran the numbers using the memory maker package and going for 10 nights May 30 - June 8 is actually $200 cheaper, even with a small bump in airfare. Plus it is a bit cooler, not cool, but cooler than the end of August.

The kids know we are going in August, which we would let them believe, but then we would pick them up on their last day of school and say "We are leaving now!"

I know that would put us going during Star War Weekends and Gay Days, is there a huge increase in the crowd levels due to these events? DS and DH would love to attend a bit of the SWW I am sure... If we avoid the desiginated parks on the days for that each event is held will we even notice extra crowds?

I already have all of our ADR's booked, is it going to be impossible for me to get nearly everything again? Last time we went I had about one month to plan and we got every ADR we wanted, was that a fluke?

Advice please!!! What would you do??

In years past we always vacationed at WDW in August / September. Now because my daughter is older and cant miss school we travel End of May. This year we are going May 21st to May 31st. I actually prefer May. The weather for August / Sept versus May is about the same. The last few years it has been hot ! I think you will find it rains less in May. End of August starts the rainy season if Im not mistaken. Another reason we travel in May is because rates are cheaper. Crowds are manageable. Avoid HS on Star Wars weekend. Gay Days didn't bother us at all. So I say go for it. Ive been switching around ADRs for weeks and still find lots of availability.

I went this time last year, and I think I will go again during this time now that my daughter is in school. The crowds and the heat increased while we were there, toward the end of the trip.
It might be hard for you to get some of your reservations if you wanted really specific times/meals, like character meals or Be Our Guest. Unless there is a free dining promo going on most restaurants will have something, though. I think beating the heat is worth it for sure.
