My DW and I are about to go on our first trip to Disney World with our Child. We will celebrate our 5 year anniversary later this month and have a 4 month old son. We have been to Disney World 7 times in 5 years, so we are Disney Pros, but never with a child. DW's parents are going with us to help with DS, but i am kind of freaking out thinking about our trip.

We are driving down (for the first time) from West Tennessee. We are stopping in Macon, GA on Friday night. We have a 3 bedroom townhouse about 2 miles from the Animal Kingdom. I have 4 day Park Hoppers as well as 7 day unlimited passes for Universal.

DS is 4 months old today and has had a history of colic and acid reflux. He loves his baby bjorn carrier and tolerates his stroller ok. He does have a torticollis in his neck, which we go to physical therapy for.

I gues my biggest fear is him screaming his lungs off while we are on an attraction and ruining the Disney Magic for other people around us. I can just see all of us on a small world boat and the happiest cruise that ever sailed becoming a screamfest. I don't want to exclude him from everything as all of the lights and music seem to be good stimulation for him.

Any tips, advice, and first hand experience with 4 month old's at Disney World is welcomed. This is the first time that i have not been giddy with excitement about going to Disney. Tell me that i ahve nothing to worry about.

If by chance there is a ride or moment when your child is not at their happiest, well at least you will be surrounded by other parents who should have an understanding heart about the circumstances. Or at the very least a bunch of people you will never see again ;)

It is great that you will also have his grandparents there to help off-set any moments when one of you may need to re-direct your energy and switch things around depending on how your son is doing.

Have a great trip and keep in mind that you are already ahead of the game just by being disney pros!

We took our 4 month old daughter two years ago. She also had colic and we were coming from Australia. With all of that we had a great time. Granted we could not go commando like we used to but we still did a lot and had a good time.

We took her on all the rides that she was allowed on. I don't have any vivid memories of her screaming on rides but I am sure she did. I was worried like you but the great thing with Disney is that there are a lot of babies and children screaming on rides. We never got any glares or anyone upset about our baby. We also ate at a lot of table service restaurants and again that went much better than we thought.

My advice is to get organized in terms of the items you will need in the parks that was the hardest part was making sure we had everything in the mornings before we headed to the parks. Also I would recommend bringing your own stroller. Any specific questions just send me a pm.

Thanks for the advice. We are bringing our own stroller. This makes me feel better. I guess at the end of the day, we are still at Disney and we are not the first (or the last) to take a 4 month old.

The hardest part is going to be to slow down. DW and I are used to going comando from rope drop to extra evening magic hours. But we know that those days are over (at least until DS is a teenager).

does your wife nurse? I found that to be the magic trick with DD if she seemed to be upset on rides, it shut her up every time ;-)

A pacifier would also work.

Yes. DW has nursed exclusively. I wish the pacifier would work. DS will not take a pacifier for anything. If it doesn't have anything flowing out of it, he doesn't want it near his lips.

Great tip on the nursing though.
