I took my DH to the Emergency Room last night, and it turns out he has a large blood clot in his upper leg:sad1::sad1::sad1:

We are leaving one week from today for our Universal trip....and it looks like DH won't be able to fly, since it takes a couple of weeks to become stable on the meds, and he'll need blood work very often.

If he's doing well, the rest of us may still go. We didn't take out any travel insurance and would lose out on quite a bit of money.

Question is about the annual pass and reservation under his name. The annual pass has not been activated yet. Can the annual pass and HRH reservation be transferred to myself?

I'm trying to reach the airlines, and see what our options are with them. We also booked the other park passes through AAA, so waiting to hear back if they will refund my unused ticket... if I can transfer to the annual pass.

Just overwhelmed and needing a bit of dis help!!

First let me say I'm so sorry for your husband having the medical emergency
You must be beyond worried and upset right now

For universal, call them about changing the AP to you.
They will be very understanding and work with you
The hotel change of name will not be an issue

Some airlines will work with you and might give you a break on husbands ticket since it is an emergency

Not to take away from your situation but my appendix burst 12 days before my trip in 2014

Emergency surgery and in patient for 4 days
Was released to fly but had to be in bed a good portion of the vacation

Do pray that your husband will be fine with a speedy recovery

Can't offer any better advice than Mac has given you.......but best wishes for your DH and hope he begins to improve quickly and you still get your vacation.

With the Hotel, there won't be an issue changing name on reservation

macraven and schumigirl, thank you for the well wishes! We will take all the positive thoughts we can get right now!! (a burst appendix is very serious too, glad you made a full recovery)

Universal was wonderful! They will change the AP and reservation name, no problem.

Still waiting to hear from AAA. At least they are considering helping us....

Frontier Airlines was decent. They offered me a fax number to send all his medical information over. If they approve, we can get a full refund. Or we can transfer ticket to someone else (if DD asks a friend quick), for a $75 fee.

Spirit Airlines was useless:crazy2: No credit toward future travel, no transferring to a different person (if DD would ask a friend), no refund, nada.
Plus, they will resell his seat! I figured we could use my DH seat to spread out a bit. We did pay for it after all. Nope!!!

I am so sorry about your husband. As for your reservations it seems like mostly good news. Sorry about Spirit though. I would not be happy if they wouldn't let me use the space if I paid for it. That is horrible.

I used spirit for a few years before it went to the present economy flights

Their customer service stinks
Sorry they are being jerks to you

Knew UO would be fine changing things for you
Hope good luck your way for frontier

I don't have anything to ad advice wise. I too knew universal would do the right thing. That's why we keep going back! Our thoughts are with your family. Hope you still get to go and have a wonderful time!

I don't see how they can sell the seat again. I would bring the ticket with me and would be showing it to the TA in the plane saying I paid for this seat I'm going to use it. Passengers that need more than one seat are forced to purchase an extra seat. I see no reason why you can't have the extra seat. I think it's crazy they won't even let you change the name on the ticket for a fee.

Did you ask for a supervisor? I had problems with an airline that didn't tell me that they changed my direct flight to a connecting one. I found out approx. 5 months after booking and approx. 5 months until the flight on my own. They said sorry, they don't do direct flights anymore. I checked about 5 other airlines and asked what their policy was on this and every one of them said they would contact as soon as they changed the flights. I called back and asked for a supervisor (while on hold I had to hear about the direct flights they offer to the destination I was going to- that they no longer have). I was given some travel vouchers that I am using for this next trip to US. I would ask for their policies if you don't already have them as I can't believe they don't have a name change fee. I would never use them again either as their policies are horrible.

Thank you for that information. I may try calling Spirit Airlines again tomorrow and ask for a supervisor. We paid for the ticket, and I cannot understand how they can force us to let someone else sit there if we choose to leave it vacant. They are admittedly "double dipping" on this fare.
