I am in need of advice on the most economical way to go to WDW in September. I have 3 adult parkhoppers with 2 days each left on them from our trip in 2004.

Would I be better off booking a room and ticket package for myself and my 5 year old for 6 days and then letting my 14 year old use the old passes?
Or should I just book for all 3 of us and save the passes for a future trip?

My main concern is if they do the free dining, would using old passes keep us from being eligible for that?

Thanks so much!
Trish

If they do offer free dining you will have to buy at least a one day ticket for everyone in your party as you have to purchase a complete magic your way package to qualify. I would wait until they announce the free dining. If they do then I would think you would be better off saving your passes for another trip as it is usually not economical to purchase one day passes.

In your scenario you mentioned letting one child use all of the existing tickets. You may encounter some snags doing this because the cards being previously used will probably be associated with the fingerprints of the original user, so they won't all match his finger scan when he tries using them to enter a park. Could possibly create an embarrasing moment even though your family was the original purchaser. If you go this route I would recommend you visit a ticket booth and talk with a CM to see if they can adjust all of the tickets for him prior to trying them in at a park entrance. Not sure if they can, but it may save you a little hassle. Hope this helps you:thumbsup2

They weren't doing the finger scans in 2004 (which is when the OP purchased the tickets). Finger scanning didn't start until the Magic Your Way tickets were introduced on January 2, 2005.

You won't encounter any problems with your 14 year old using the old tickets from 2004.

Thank you all for your replies.

I do not remember them doing finger scans before so I don't foresee that being a problem if I decide to go that route.

I think I will wait and see if they announce free dining and make my decision at that time.

Thanks again! I appreciate your help!

I was thinking we scanned on our trip in Dec. 04? That's what happens when old age catches up with you. All our trips kinda blend together now and it is more difficult to remember what happened on which trips. Sorry:rolleyes1
