Hello everyone. I am new to scrapbooking and just bought a Sizzlit Sidekick (clearance $11.99!!). I know it isn't as fabulous as the Cricut or some of the other diecut machines, but for a beginner, I think it'll be just fine.

I need advice on a good basic alphabet set. I've been looking around -- on sizzix.com and on ebay, but so many of them are so tiny. I would like a set that has the upper case letters at least 1 inch tall -- bigger would be even better. Any suggestions? I am a mom to 2 boys, so I am looking for something more basic -- no frillies or curlyque's.

We have a scrap store about an hour away that charges $3/hour to use all of their diecutting machines and dies, (they have TONS!) so that works out well for me -- I'd just like an alphabet set here at home. Thanks!:)

My sets are packed away right now, but as a rule of thumb the sets without shadow or only one case (upper or ower) are larger. The sets with both upper & lower AND shadows are obviously smaller letters because they have to fit all 4 shapes on a single die.

The largest I have are Monkey tails & Big Top - no shadow and Bozo - lower case only. I found descriptions for Big Top that says the letters are 1.5" tall & one for Monkey Tails that says they are 1 3/8" tall.

As I recall, Stencil might be about 2" tall - but they're pretty skinny.

I love Monkey Tails for Disney Stuff, a nice touch of fun and whimsy.

I also really like Boxed Brush. It isn't the small small, but it is a bit smaller (mostly width wise) than Monkey Tails.
