We are going February 2008 (value season). Please help us choose a resort by voting for your favorite. Feel free to tell why you chose the resort you did.

Thanks,
Sandy P.

I think it depends on ones budget and other facts,If your kids are young, stay at a monorail resort or WL to be at MK more days.No children or older children stay at the Epcot resort area, and if you love animals,AKL would be my choice. All of the above resorts can wreak havok on a tight budget though.Disney has resorts for all kinds of budgets but may need extra transportation time.Good Luck:thumbsup2

Thanks for responding everyone. Our children are 21 and 13. Well...I guess the 21 year old (junior in college) is not typically a child, but he acts like one at Disney World. It's funny to watch him working on his independence and "manhood persona" until he hears we are planning another Disney trip  .

So far it sounds as if Wilderness Lodge has the :thumbsup2

Have a magical day!
Sandy

We have stayed at BC twice with our young children and we have loved it. It is as great for young children as it is for the ages you have. The pool is extra fabulous and all the entertainment at the Boardwalk (across the lake) would be great. In addition, very easy access to Epcot and MGM.

I voted YC/BC...have been doing so much research...those are all good choices....but the location of these resorts to parks and the Boardwalk....I think I tied your poll!!

I picked Wilderness Lodge because it's IMPOSSIBLE to beat during the Winter Months (Perfect Theme in my opinion with the big fireplace), and because I'm staying there in January. However, if you and those accompanying you are big Epcot people (A lot of people like to eat most of their meals there because of the multi-cultural restaurants), then I would go with the Yacht Club.

Well, :) I voted for BC/YC because coming from Indiana the palm trees and beachy feeling of the resort cannot compare. And then there is location, location, location!! Being able to stroll to/from EPCOT and even MGM within walking distance is especially wonderful that time of year :)

BC/YC/BW/Swan/Dolphin all share buses, so it can be a long wait/ride. WL also shares buses so it has a similar issue without the added convenience of being able to walk to two parks :)

WL is fantastic during the holidays with the gorgeous decorations, but the rooms are smaller and you have almost all adults, really, so the extra space at BC/YC would be nice too. BWI is also nice :)

If you are a teacher or work in the school system in any support position, the teacher discounts at Swan/Dolphin are excellent!! Also, military, firefighter, government have the same discount. AARP and AAA can be decent too.

Disney resorts offer AAA discounts but not AARP (not implying you have AARP!!! LOL).

Ultimately, you would probably enjoy any resort in your poll because they are every one terrific!

Have fun planning!

Out of those choices I picked yacht and beach b/c I have always wanted to stay there!!

Yacht & Beach would be my first choice. Love the location. Love the pool.

Wilderness Lodge would be my second choice because I love the serenity of that resort.

The Wilderness Lodge is awesome, especially in Dec/Jan/Feb because the weather is cool and you get that cozy comfy feeling from the Lodge!!!!

I voted for YC/BC because of the area. With kids of those ages, you will probably love Epcot, at least eating nice meals in Epcot, right? By staying at YC/BC, you can walk right in to Epcot countries in 5 minutes. Also, you can walk to boardwalk in 5-10 minutes, where there is ESPN Club, bakery, restaurants, shopping, carnival-type games, food stands, pizza take-out window, candy shop, entertainment such as magicians, rent surrey bikes, etc. You can also walk or boat to MGM (about 15-20 minute walk).

Y&BC, hands down! The pool alone makes it a wonderful choice, but add in the boardwalk entertainment and action along with the proximity to
Epcot and it has my vote. Wish we were staying there this coming trip, but am happy we'll be at Disney! :D

I have stayed at the GF and loved it. Although that was during Dec. and it might not be as fun if you are going with kids in Feb. I have heard great things about the Poly, WL, and Y&BC. I hope you have a great trip. Good luck!:cheer2:

Of the choices I would select AKL b/c of how nice it is and of the interior corridors, and the animals.

I would choose, in this order:

AKL
Beach Club
Wilderness Lodge

I haven't stayed at the Swan/Dolphin and couldn't "place" it.

I like the theme at AKL a lot. And IMO, it carries its theme throughout the hotel better than any other resort. The staff there is, by and large, amazing. Better than any other WDW hotel, IMO. I like to look at the animals, but I'd stay there without them, that's for sure. If AKL were on the monorail, I doubt I'd ever stay anywhere else.

I like the theme at the Beach Club and they have the best valet on property - plus it is close to Epcot's World Showcase, where I spend a lot of time (and I don't mind walking.) It is very bright, including the rooms - and the rooms have lifeguard Mickey lamps. That gets me every time. I like being there a lot, feel most at home there, but there isn't a lunch restaurant, it isn't on the monorail, and I don't like the pool.

WL would be my distant third. I like WL, it's gorgeous. But the foliage is similar to what I see all the time (lacks that "fun to come back to" thing"), the valet people suck almost as badly as those at the Contemporary and, I dunno, aside from the lobby and restaurants, I'm not all that jazzed about the way they've themed the place. Excellent gift shop, though.

I guess the best solution is to go back several times within the next year and stay at all of the resorts ;)

You guys have been great. I really appreciate the info...especially after reading my original post and realizing how silly it sounded. I think I must have been so excited that I was thinking faster than I could type :rolleyes1

Thanks again!
Sandy P.
